About the Role

BYD is seeking a Technical Safety Management Engineer to join its team in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience and is central to ensuring the safe and reliable operation of energy storage systems. The role involves a blend of technical system management and comprehensive safety oversight, contributing to operational excellence and compliance.

Technical System Management

  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, repair, and maintenance of energy storage systems on site.
  • Address technical issues promptly to ensure reliable system operation and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with technical support and R&D departments to provide feedback on field issues and propose improvements.
  • Provide technical support to customers, respond to equipment inquiries, and deliver necessary training.
  • Follow up on customer after-sales service requirements to enhance satisfaction.

Safety Inspections and Compliance

  • Conduct site inspections to identify electrical, fire, chemical, and trip/slip/fall hazards.
  • Enforce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance in accordance with NFPA 70E/OSHA standards.
  • Maintain grounding systems and ensure strict adherence to Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) plans, Emergency Response Plans (ERP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform daily and monthly hazard recognition activities, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to eliminate unsafe conditions.
  • Verify the operational status of fire detection, gas detection, and explosion-prevention systems.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare and maintain daily safety inspection reports.
  • Draft and update safety procedures for operations, maintenance, and emergency response.
  • Document and file Safety Meeting Minutes, including daily toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of PPE distribution, inspections, and compliance checks.

Incident Response and Training

  • Lead incident investigations and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Prepare Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) reports.
  • Conduct emergency drills for fire, chemical, and electrocution scenarios.
  • Support emergency shutdowns and coordinate effectively with the Grid Control Center.
  • Serve as a liaison to emergency responders and regulatory bodies.
  • Deliver safety induction and refresher training to personnel.
  • Foster proactive safety awareness across various departments.

Candidate Profile and Work Environment

The successful candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in a relevant technical safety management role, demonstrating a strong understanding of industrial safety standards and practices. This position operates under the work arrangement of the site leader. It requires a willingness to travel frequently and adapt to flexible working hours to meet operational demands in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
