About the ES&H Advisor Role

Bechtel Corporation is seeking an experienced ES&H Advisor to support the Ar Rjum Project in Saudi Arabia. This full-time position focuses on the implementation of Environment, Safety, and Health (ES&H) management programs, systems, and processes. The role provides technical oversight for ES&H activities, ensuring effective risk control for people, property, and the environment within the project's operational scope.

Project Context

The Ar Rjum Project is a greenfield gold mining operation situated in the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km northeast of Taif and 26 km south of Al Mouwayh. The project encompasses three open-pit mining operations, waste dumps, ore stockpiles, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and essential supporting infrastructure including water and power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, and accommodation villages. This role is designated for Saudi Nationals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate various Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) disciplines to support the implementation of Bechtel's ES&H program and Management System.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures for employee safety and health, and the protection of the environment and communities.
  • Maintain ES&H databases, including incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions.
  • Perform statistical analysis of ES&H data to identify performance trends and contributing factors, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Identify and coordinate the use of unique software systems and electronic innovations by ES&H personnel.
  • Lead teams in conducting risk assessments, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to ES&H issues.
  • Prepare communications, write reports, and develop documents for program execution and records retention.
  • Coordinate incident notifications, lead investigations, and prepare incident investigation reports.
  • Recommend and implement process, procedure, and work activity improvements to minimize hazard potential.
  • Participate in and potentially lead employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs.
  • Coordinate ES&H recognition programs.
  • Research moderately complex issues and provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
  • Provide support to ES&H field and office personnel across all ES&H disciplines.
  • Identify activities that directly reduce risk.
  • Supervise and maintain a team providing in-field ESH support to all construction areas.
  • Participate in area leader meetings to identify and report on ESH requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an ESH discipline.
  • 5-10 years of relevant ES&H experience in the industrial construction or heavy engineering industry.
  • 2+ years of experience directly supervising a team of 3 to 4 ES&H professionals; OR 2+ years of ES&H experience in a complex work environment.

  • Leadership skills to effectively coach, mentor, participate, and direct team members.
  • Professional skill set to deliver quality outputs for an ES&H program.
  • High level of written and verbal communication proficiency.
  • Demonstrated attributes that reflect ES&H as a personal value.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, targets, and objectives.
