About the Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a qualified Helmet Mounted Symbology System (HMSS) Technician for a full-time position in Taif. This role is integral to the maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and supports national objectives related to Saudisation and capability development. The technician will ensure adherence to safety, SHE, and quality assurance standards within their area of responsibility, while also contributing to customer requirements and providing performance data for HMSS operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, scheduled, and unscheduled repairs on HMSS in accordance with approved technical data and procedures.
• Support the Saudisation process through on-the-job training (OJT).
• Adhere to approved maintenance data and report any anomalies.
• Deliver and manage HMSS capabilities to support RSAF Typhoon operations across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
• Ensure strict adherence to correct engineering practices and the use of approved data.
• Generate statistics related to HMSS performance and usage.
• Control Supply & POL systems, including relevant document control.
• Ensure correct procedures are in place for tool control at all times.
• Understand the maintenance planning philosophy and its relation to the role.
• Possess detailed knowledge of the Aircrew Assisted Escape System (AAES) and its safety requirements.
• Complete any other reasonable duties or requests made by Line Management.
• Work effectively as a team member, providing guidance and proactively seeking tasks.
• Follow local work processes within the bay, highlighting inconsistencies or potential improvements.

Job Accountabilities

• Maintain awareness of Continuing Airworthiness (CA) terminology, principles, and their application to maintenance.
• Understand personal authorisation limitations.
• Be familiar with how authorisations, competence, and currency affect maintenance task completion.
• Report all accidents and incidents in a controlled and confidential manner.
• Ensure correct completion and recording of all engineering practices in line with 2nd & 3rd signature responsibilities.
• Prioritise tasks to ensure no loss in flying capability.
• Segregate and control all materials, including tagging, regardless of serviceability state.
• Compile and control job cards, including a working knowledge of 1st & 2nd signature responsibilities.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of the Aircrew Assisted Escape System (AAES) and safety requirements for cockpit entry and exit.
• Be aware of AAES Typhoon authorisation training.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Extensive proven experience within Aircrew Life Support Equipment & HMSS serving on an operational military flying unit; Typhoon experience is preferred.
• A recognised qualification to NVQ3/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, or a technical apprenticeship, or a suitable equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA.
• Thorough working knowledge of HMSS maintenance, fault finding, and fitting procedures.
• Practical experience working on HMSS and associated test equipment.
• Broad experience of coaching and mentoring techniques to supervise and develop others.
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing customer requirements.
• An understanding of RAF and/or RSAF engineering operating procedures.
• Thorough working knowledge of aircraft Life Support Fast Jet Equipment.
• Experience working in the aviation industry in a Gulf Coast Country is preferred.
• Leadership skills and proven ability to supervise all levels of engineering personnel are preferred.
• Holding 2nd signature is preferred.
• The successful candidate, Saudi or Expatriate, must obtain Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership at the appropriate level prior to starting the role or commencing employment in KSA. SCE membership must be maintained throughout employment.
