The Role of Barista

FAENA is seeking a Barista to join its team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves preparing and serving a range of coffee, espresso, tea, and specialty beverages with precision and a focus on guest satisfaction. The Barista is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, inventory, and overall presentation of the café or coffee service area, contributing to a memorable guest experience in a dynamic setting. Candidates should have 0-1 years of experience in a similar role.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso-based drinks, teas, and specialty beverages in accordance with established recipes and standards.
• Ensure consistent quality, presentation, and timely delivery of all beverages.
• Provide warm, attentive, and knowledgeable service to enhance the guest experience.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked workstation throughout service periods.
• Monitor and proactively replenish inventory of coffee, milk, syrups, and related supplies.
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment safely, reporting any issues promptly.
• Uphold all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
• Process guest orders and payments accurately using the POS system.
• Demonstrate strong product knowledge of coffee beans, brewing methods, teas, and specialty beverages to confidently recommend items.
• Personalize service by engaging with guests and, where appropriate, using names.
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth and efficient service flow.
• Assist with setup before service and breakdown/cleaning after shifts.
• Prepare mise en place in advance to support peak service periods.
• Support the onboarding of new team members by demonstrating beverage preparation and service standards.
• Maintain FAENA service standards in appearance, behavior, and guest interaction.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 0-1 years of experience in a barista or similar role.
• Excellent attention to detail in beverage preparation and presentation.
• Strong product knowledge of coffee, tea, and specialty beverages.
• Ability to deliver high-quality guest interactions in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in operating espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment.
• Understanding and adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
• Experience with POS systems for order processing and payments.
• Effective communication skills for team collaboration and guest engagement.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to endure various physical movements throughout work areas.
• Capacity to move safely in uneven terrain or confined spaces.
• Requirement to remain active, constantly moving, or to sit for prolonged periods working on a computer during shifts.
• Medium Work: Exerting up to 20kg of force occasionally, and/or 10kg of force frequently, and/or up to 5kg of force constantly to move objects. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 15kg.
