Job Description

About the Role

Wood is seeking a Building Services Supervisor for a full-time position. This role involves supervising the work of Implementation Contractors and Vendors at site and fabrication yards, ensuring compliance with contractual deliverables in terms of safety, quality, and schedule. The supervisor will oversee, coordinate, inspect, and commission Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, verifying adherence to design specifications, statutory requirements, quality standards, and project objectives.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Implement HSE procedures and standards in compliance with applicable laws, Health and Safety Documentation, and the Environmental Management Manual.
  • Collaborate with HSE colleagues during the preparation phase through verification and approval of Method Statements/Job Safety Analyses (MS/JSA), and during work execution.
  • Verify that subcontractors work safely and in accordance with approved MS/JSA.
  • Ensure work permits are obtained before starting any activity and that permit conditions are met.
  • Conduct evaluations of work scope, area conditions, and specific equipment inspections prior to field activities, communicating hazards and control measures to Subcontractor field supervisors.
  • Ensure subcontractors observe safety procedures and job site activity regulations, and address any dangerous situations.
  • Perform daily safety walks and keep the Safety Superintendent informed about unsafe work procedures.
  • Instruct subcontractor foremen on conducting Pre-Task Talks (PTT) in the field.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Maintain close liaison with other discipline supervisors to coordinate all work in the area.
  • Ensure materials used comply with project technical documents, applicable codes, and specifications.
  • Check subcontractor labor productivity for quality and quantity, in conjunction with project control.
  • Monitor subcontractor work execution to maintain the project schedule.
  • Assure works are carried out on schedule; identify deficiencies and report to the Field Superintendent/Construction Manager for corrective actions.
  • Verify and discuss modifications or discrepancies with the Field Superintendent/Construction Manager and Field Project Engineer, cooperating to issue sketches for modifications when works deviate from drawings. (Cost or schedule impacts require Construction Manager approval).
  • Record approved modifications and, in cooperation with the Construction Manager, inform the Subcontract Administrator if contractual changes are involved.
  • Prepare and complete Request of Work Execution (**** forms for extra work or modifications, as per Subcontracting Department procedure, for approval before execution.
  • Ensure "Work Permits" are obtained before starting any required work.
  • Verify that subcontractors use the latest editions of drawings and technical documents, in conjunction with the QA/QC leader.
  • Check subcontractor manpower presence on site using the "Manpower presence report," in conjunction with the Subcontracting Manager.
  • Check, sign, and collect all subcontractor time sheets for hourly-reimbursed work.
  • Prepare/check subcontractor's monthly/weekly work progress and transmit data to Project Control.
  • Check work execution against technical documentation, Wood & Subcontractor Quality Plan, work progress, applicable codes, and rules, authorizing accounting for installed quantities.
  • Take action to correct any deficiencies.
  • Complete the daily log record book.
  • Ensure no hold-ups occur due to lack of engineering documents, materials, or work area accessibility, to prevent subcontractor claims (in conjunction with Project Control and Field Engineer).
  • Prepare, issue to subcontractors, and file Construction and Final Punch Lists, and follow up on outstanding works.
  • Organize work files and, in case of substitution, inform the new supervisor about the work status and transfer the work file.
  • Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of HVAC, electrical, ELV, fire protection, plumbing, and sanitary systems.
  • Coordinate MEP interfaces with civil, structural, and architectural disciplines to prevent clashes and rework.
  • Review MEP shop drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans, and support the resolution of technical queries.
  • Verify MEP works comply with applicable codes, authority requirements, project specifications, and approved drawings.
  • Monitor MEP testing and commissioning activities and ensure timely closure of defects and punch list items.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate MEP systems.
  • Proficiency in ensuring compliance with design specifications, statutory requirements, and quality standards.
