About the Clinical Instructor Role
King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center is seeking a Clinical Instructor to contribute to the provision of safe, patient and family-focused quality care. This full-time position is based in Medina, Al Madinah Region. The role involves providing comprehensive clinically focused staff orientation and professional development within areas of specialization, supporting the achievement of Nursing Affairs strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Collaborate with Education Coordinators to address the educational needs of assigned units, clinics, or groups of nurses.
- Assess learning needs in partnership with staff, head nurses, and Nursing Development and Saudization (ND&S) colleagues to establish an annual education plan.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify clinically-based teaching-learning activities based on assessed needs, competence levels, and standards of care, evaluating against unit-specific indicators and strategic goals.
- Incorporate internal and external standards, evidence-based practice, and research findings into educational offerings.
- Facilitate critical incident analysis in partnership with nursing staff, linking to all areas of responsibility and safety issues.
- Perform clinical responsibilities within related specialties such as Nursing, Laboratory, Respiratory, or Pharmacy, as assigned.
- Participate in and conduct unit/clinic-based, classroom, and Skills Lab education, utilizing principles of adult learning, reflective practice, cultural diversity, competency-based practice, and novice to expert theories.
- Utilize educator roles in coaching, mentoring, facilitating, teaching, managing, and evaluating knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values in learning situations.
- Participate in the educational development and support of unit/clinic-based preceptors.
- Conduct clinical performance assessments of staff within assigned areas, collaborating with Head Nurse, Program Director, and Education Coordinator, and provide feedback for outcome-based education plans.
- Maintain educational records for staff within the area of responsibility.
- Participate in educational activities that support the advancement of healthcare and the nursing profession in the Kingdom.
- Provide education to support an increase in the number of Saudi nurses in assigned areas and within ND&S.
- Provide education to support the achievement of clinical quality outcome indicators and patient satisfaction.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of Nursing Affairs objectives using a continuous improvement paradigm.
- Provide education to support cost efficiency savings in assigned areas.
- Promote and maintain effective communication and teamwork, treating colleagues, patients, and visitors with dignity and respect.
- Support staff recruitment and assist in developing competence and performance, acting as a mentor for new staff.
- Participate in staff retention initiatives, providing education to support staff retention in assigned areas and assessing the application of knowledge and skills to practice.
- Engage in professional self-development related to clinical expertise, educator roles, and educational theories and methods.
- Develop and sustain own knowledge, skills, and professional awareness, maintaining a professional profile and providing documented evidence of performance and skill maintenance.
- Support the organization in achieving identified goals and upholding organizational values, acting as a professional role model.
- Participate in Hospital-wide Performance Improvement activities and in the development and evaluation of Interprofessional Practice Plans (IPPs).
- Participate in patient education programs.
- Adhere to all Hospital-related policies and procedures.
- Participate in self and other's education, training, and development as applicable.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess 2-5 years of relevant experience. Specific educational qualifications will be assessed based on the candidate's specialty and the requirements of the role.
Work Environment and Type
This is a full-time position located in Medina, Al Madinah Region. The role operates within a hospital setting, contributing to the professional development of nursing staff and the overall quality of patient care.
