About the Role
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to join its team in Medina, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah. This full-time position requires a strategic financial leader to drive property-wide initiatives and maximize financial performance.
Role Overview
The Director of Finance & Accounting serves as the property's strategic financial business leader. This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that align with brand standards and guest expectations, while also maximizing return on investment. The position involves creating and executing a business plan focused on financial and accounting activities to achieve desirable financial results.
Key Responsibilities
- Championing, developing, and implementing property-wide strategies to meet or exceed brand and customer needs.
- Providing financial expertise to support brand initiatives and maximize ROI.
- Creating and executing a business plan aligned with property and brand strategies.
- Developing means to improve profit, including cost-benefit analysis and exploring new business opportunities.
- Analyzing information, forecasting sales against expenses, and creating annual budget plans.
- Monitoring actual sales against projected sales and analyzing budget variances for efficient planning.
- Identifying underlying principles and reasons within data to inform decision-making.
- Developing and implementing new business plans.
- Providing analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost-saving and productivity opportunities.
- Implementing appropriate controls to manage business risks and ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment.
- Analyzing financial data and market trends.
- Leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive annual business plan.
- Providing ongoing analytical support by monitoring operating department sales.
- Producing accurate forecasts to enable operational responsiveness.
- Utilizing interpersonal and communication skills to lead and influence teams and stakeholders.
- Communicating strategic goals clearly to subordinates.
- Influencing the executive team and property strategies.
- Overseeing internal, external, and regulatory audit processes.
- Assigning clear accountability and appropriate authority to team members and managers.
- Conducting annual performance appraisals.
- Attending meetings and communicating with owners to understand priorities.
- Advising the General Manager and executive committee on operating and financial issues.
- Communicating financial concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Managing communication with owners effectively.
- Managing property working capital and cash flow.
- Facilitating critique meetings with the management team.
- Ensuring accurate documentation of profits and losses.
- Monitoring and ensuring taxes are current, collected, and/or accrued.
- Submitting reports in a timely manner.
- Developing and supporting the achievement of performance, budget, and team goals.
- Improving profit growth in operating departments.
- Reviewing audit issues for accuracy.
- Generating and providing accurate and timely reports and presentations.
- Reconciling balance sheets to ensure account balances are supported.
- Ensuring the Profit and Loss statement is accurate.
- Ensuring compliance with management contracts and reporting requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with standard and local operating procedures.
- Ensuring team members are cross-trained for successful daily operations.
- Administering property policies fairly and consistently.
- Ensuring new hires participate in orientation and receive appropriate training.
- Creating development plans for team members based on strengths and career aspirations.
- Participating in hiring activities as appropriate.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Option 1: 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major, plus 2 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related professional area.
- Option 2: Master's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major, with no work experience required.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position located in Medina, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah.
