About the Role
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Director of Sales & Marketing to lead the hotel's sales department. This role is crucial for achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth by managing proactive and reactive sales efforts and fostering strong customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the hotel's proactive and reactive sales initiatives to meet sales targets.
- Provide daily guidance and direction to the sales staff to ensure achievement of hotel sales objectives.
- Implement brand service strategies and initiatives across all sales processes.
- Focus on building and maintaining long-term, value-based customer relationships to achieve sales goals.
- Evaluate the hotel's participation and effectiveness across various sales channels.
- Develop and manage the sales budget to create specific hotel activities, promotions, and events that drive revenue.
- Coordinate with regional sales and marketing teams to promote regional and national promotional activities.
- Develop and implement the overall hotel sales strategy to meet or exceed brand targets and provide return on investment.
- Manage strategic account plans, review market positioning, and research competitor strategies to increase occupancy and revenue per available room (RevPAR).
- Participate in sales strategy meetings and contribute to weekly and overall sales strategies.
- Propose innovative marketing concepts and develop departmental strategies to increase market share.
- Ensure seamless integration from sales to operations and back, consistently providing high-standard service.
- Manage effective solutions for customer issues arising from the sales process.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience requirements:
- A two-year degree in Business Management, Marketing, Hotel, and Restaurant Management, or a related field from an accredited university, plus 4 years of experience in sales and marketing or a related field.
- A four-year degree in Business Management, Marketing, Hotel, and Restaurant Management, or a related field, plus 2 years of experience in sales and marketing or a related field.
Preferred qualifications include a four-year college degree, demonstrated team supervision skills, prior sales experience, and hotel industry experience with a progressive career development and a pattern of excellent performance.
Building Successful Relationships
- Establish strong collaborative partnerships with local organizations to enhance brand and product awareness.
- Manage relationships with key internal stakeholders.
- Build strong community and public relations by ensuring hotel participation in local, regional, and national events.
- Provide excellent customer service by understanding customer needs and anticipating/monitoring during planning and activities to improve satisfaction and loyalty.
- Understand the hotel's key target customers and their service expectations, including their business needs and concerns, to provide effective business solutions.
Leadership and Strategy
- Set sales goals and strategies, ensuring consistency with brand business strategies.
- Implement sales strategies to achieve personal and staff reservation goals.
- Guide leaders of revenue-generating departments to set effective revenue strategies and financial performance goals.
- Understand and utilize Marriott International (MI) demand generation needs.
- Cooperate with Human Resources, Engineering, and Loss Prevention departments to monitor compliance with regulations.
- Cooperate with Human Resources to attract, develop, and retain talent.
- Establish effective organizational, process, work, and performance management systems.
- Set goals and expectations for direct reports, manage performance, and resolve issues.
- Forecast talent needs and manage recruitment strategies to minimize turnover.
- Maintain a roster of top sales personnel and implement recruitment plans.
- Provide support and training to sales personnel.
- Evaluate, select, retain, and develop current and future leaders, and continuously improve the professional skills of sales and marketing personnel.
- Identify, train, and coach team sales personnel, utilizing available training tools.
- Transfer functional knowledge and train other professional management personnel in team sales skills.
