Electrician

About the Role

SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering is seeking an Electrician to join their team. This full-time role involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and wiring across residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The Electrician will ensure all electrical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, power distribution, and control systems within commercial and industrial facilities.
• Perform reactive maintenance and Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) activities for LV/MV systems, low-current systems, and control panels.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to identify potential issues and ensure optimal performance of electrical systems.
• Diagnose and rectify faults in various electrical systems and equipment, including Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP), Building Management Systems (BMS), Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, Public Address and Voice Alarm (PAVA) systems, fan motors and pumps, and various control, lighting, and distribution panels.
• Conduct routine cleaning, servicing, and maintenance of electrical components to ensure operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to coordinate and prioritize work orders, ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including equipment status, work performed, and materials used.
• Respond promptly to service requests and emergency callouts, minimizing downtime and operational disruptions.
• Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new electrical systems and equipment.
• Ensure strict adherence to company safety procedures, regulations, electrical standards, and compliance with BEC standards and client contractual FMA & FMR requirements.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Technical Certification, ITI, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
• Valid Electrician License/Certification (where required by local regulations).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Electrician in residential, commercial, or industrial environments.

Skills and Competencies

• Demonstrated working knowledge of building automation and control systems.
• Ability to diagnose and repair system malfunctions requiring specialized technical knowledge.
• Capacity to seek technical clarification and support when necessary and escalate issues appropriately.
• Commitment to staying informed of industry developments, emerging technologies, and best practices related to electrical systems.
• Ability to provide guidance and support to junior technicians.

Work Environment

The Electrician will act as a first responder to electrical issues and work closely with supervisors on a daily basis to ensure timely completion of tasks and adherence to operational standards.
