About Ma'aden and the Role

Ma'aden – Saudi Arabian Mining Company, established in 1997, is a prominent multi-commodity mining and metals company in the Middle East. The company is a key contributor to the development of the mining industry, aiming to establish it as a core pillar of Saudi Arabia’s economy through a fully integrated mining value chain. We are seeking a Production Engineer to join our team in a full-time capacity.

Role Purpose

The Production Engineer is responsible for planning and coordinating the availability and utilization of personnel, supplies, and equipment. This role ensures efficient mine operations are maintained in alignment with statutory, safety, and environmental conditions. The position contributes directly to operational effectiveness and adherence to regulatory standards.

Core Responsibilities: Resource and Extraction Planning

• Test the validity of minable resources through preliminary surveys conducted in collaboration with geologists.
• Determine the feasibility of ore extraction based on resource assessments.
• Identify and implement suitable ore extraction methods, considering factors such as overburden depth, altitude, deposit characteristics, and surrounding strata.
• Plan and coordinate the deployment of labor, supplies, and equipment to optimize operational efficiency and ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and environmental regulations.

Core Responsibilities: Engineering and Commercial Analysis

• Consult with geologists, metallurgists, and other engineers regarding mining machines, facilities, systems, infrastructure, and environmental protection or restoration initiatives.
• Prepare operating and project estimates, assess capital and operating viability, and manage expenditure during production phases.
• Participate in negotiations related to mine purchases or investments.
• Analyze environmental sensitivities associated with processes, waste, chemicals, environmental and cultural factors, and geopolitical considerations.

Core Responsibilities: Reporting and HSE Compliance

• Analyze and compile monthly and yearly statistical production reports for management review and information.
• Monitor adherence to Ma'aden's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programs, policies, and procedures.
• Provide guidance and recommendations to address unsafe or damaging work practices.
• Investigate incidents within the assigned work area, provide recommendations or responses, and brief contractors on applicable HSE regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for the Production Engineer position are required to have 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in a production engineering role, preferably within the mining sector. A strong understanding of mine operations, resource planning, and HSE protocols is essential for this role.
