We are seeking a Senior Engineer, Mining to join our team in a full-time capacity.

Role Purpose

The Senior Engineer, Mining is responsible for planning and coordinating the availability and utilization of personnel, supplies, and equipment. This role ensures efficient mine operations while adhering to statutory, safety, and environmental conditions.

Resource and Extraction Planning Responsibilities

Key responsibilities in resource and extraction planning include:

• Testing the validity of minable resources through preliminary surveys conducted with geologists and determining the feasibility of ore extraction.
• Determining suitable ore extraction methods, considering factors such as overburden depth, altitude, deposit characteristics, and surrounding strata.
• Planning and coordinating the use of labor, supplies, and equipment in alignment with efficiency, statutory, safety, and environmental conditions.

Engineering and Commercial Analysis Responsibilities

The Senior Engineer, Mining will also be responsible for:

• Consulting with geologists, metallurgists, and engineers on various aspects including mining machines, facilities, systems, infrastructure, and environmental protection or restoration initiatives.
• Preparing operating and project estimates, assessing capital and operating viability, controlling expenditure during production, and participating in negotiations for mine purchases or investments.
• Analyzing environmental sensitivities related to processes, waste, chemicals, environmental and cultural factors, and geopolitical considerations.

Reporting and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

Additional responsibilities include:

• Analyzing and compiling monthly and yearly statistical production reports for management review and information.
• Monitoring adherence to Ma'aden's Health, Safety and Environment programs, policies, and procedures, and providing guidance to address unsafe or damaging work practices.
• Investigating incidents within the assigned work area, providing recommendations or responses, and briefing contractors on applicable HSE regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in mining engineering or a related field. A strong understanding of mine operations, resource planning, and HSE regulations is essential.
