About the Role

APEX Resources is seeking a Field Service Engineer (Rotating Machines) to join their team in Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This is a contract position requiring over 10 years of experience. The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for the onsite installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of electrical rotating machines, including preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the installation and commissioning of rotating machines and their control and regulation systems, including all electrical aspects.
  • Perform on-site installation, commissioning, refurbishment, startup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading of Medium Voltage synchronous and induction motors, generators, excitation, and AVR systems.
  • Test and validate rotating machine protection systems, including electrical machines with AD & DC HV kits.
  • Inspect and service brushless excitation system electrical circuits and static excitation injection systems for rotating machines.
  • Test surge arrestors, capacitors, diodes, and temperature sensors in rotating machines.
  • Carry out IR & PI tests and perform HV surge testing of electrical machines.
  • Inspect stator windings and cores.
  • Test and service mechanical jacking oil systems and understand rotating machine lube oil systems.
  • Assemble and handle vertical and horizontal bearings, rotor-mounted fans, and blades.
  • Measure mechanical components and handle heavy weight and lifting equipment.
  • Utilize dielectric chemicals for cleaning electrical machines and test CT's and VT's.

Customer Support and Reporting

  • Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance at customer sites.
  • Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services.
  • Write technical reports, order materials, secure quotations, and prepare job status reports, customer reports, time sheets, and expense sheets in a complete, timely, and thorough manner.
  • Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and as a reference for future outages.

Leadership and Safety

  • Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor performing work on customer sites.
  • Maintain a strong safety mindset to ensure executed work reflects technical requirements within GE safety standards.

Experience Required

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field is required for this role.
