About the Role
Airbus ** is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer A220 (Contract) to join the Final Assembly Line at its * Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, Alabama. This full-time role is integral to the aircraft assembly process, from initial concept through to customer delivery. Manufacturing Engineers collaborate with production teams on all aspects of assembly, including technical information management, quality control, maintenance tasks, and health & safety across flowlines and flightlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within a multi-function team to address technical questions regarding A220 aircraft final assembly.
- Validate workbook modifications and assist with tooling and troubleshooting.
- Perform part configuration validation and conduct nonconformity research.
- Ensure a complete plan is established for outstanding actions pertaining to the Methods Department.
- Provide technical support to production and create rework orders.
- Lead troubleshooting meetings and establish LDDs for RNCs with Operation Leader agreement.
- Investigate workbook modifications and submit changes to Change Managers.
- Handle non-conformities within the assigned area and ensure proper support with MES (Issues/Snags).
- Establish and verify the technical content of BOIs, Workbooks, and RNCs, providing feedback to responsible actors.
- Exchange information regularly with the Autonomous Production Team (APT) to ensure a "one team" concept.
- Analyze current status and create reports, managing continuous improvement measures with recurring routines.
- Evaluate multiple options and make recommendations to management based on appropriate processes and methods.
Project Support and Training
- Support projects as outlined by management.
- Perform independent research and participate in the development of solutions for complex problems.
- Support PPS actions outlined by the Autonomous Production Team (APT).
- Ensure completion of project roadmaps.
- Ensure Poly-Poly end-of-year requirements are met.
- Ensure all training outlined by HR and Management is completed in a timely manner.
Experience Requirements
Candidates for this role should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering or a related field.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This is a 100% onsite position at the Airbus * Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, AL. The role may require independent and short-notice travel, potentially internationally. The following physical abilities are required:
- Vision: Ability to see and read computer screens, electronic equipment, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
- Hearing: Ability to participate in conversations in person, via teleconference or phone, and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
- Speaking: Ability to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information, and participate in communications.
- Equipment Operation: Ability to operate most office and personal electronic equipment, and some production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
- Carrying/Lifting: Ability to carry and lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
- Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
- Sitting/Standing/Squatting/Kneeling: Ability to sit for long periods, stand for discussions, and squat or kneel to retrieve items.
- Walking: Ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site. Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits; appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required.

The Airbus * Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, AL, opened in 2015 at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley. It produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. This facility contributes to the * aerospace industry and aligns with Airbus' strategy to enhance global competitiveness by meeting customer needs in the United States and beyond.
