The Role of Policy Shaping Associate Director

The Policy Shaping Associate Director is responsible for developing, executing, and advancing AstraZeneca’s policy and advocacy strategy to support the business unit’s portfolio and objectives. This full-time role reports to the KSA Corporate Affairs Director and involves analyzing the external policy environment, identifying opportunities and risks, and guiding engagement with key stakeholders. The position requires cross-functional collaboration to support patient access, drive business priorities, and ensure alignment with AstraZeneca’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the policy landscape affecting AstraZeneca’s disease products, anticipating emerging trends and regulatory changes.
  • Monitor relevant legislation, regulations, and advocacy activities to ensure compliance and proactively address potential risks.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of public policy and advocacy projects that advance therapeutic access, reimbursement, and innovation.
  • Assess and grow internal policy shaping capabilities, ensuring alignment between national priorities and therapy area objectives.
  • Ensure KSA policy strategies align with AstraZeneca’s global policy framework and contribute to broader corporate affairs strategy.
  • Build and sustain relationships with key external stakeholders, including policymakers, government officials, patient advocacy groups, medical societies, NGOs, and industry associations.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between policy priorities and business goals, and acting as a subject matter expert for policy-related input.
  • Develop impactful policy position statements, white papers, briefings, and other communication materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Track and report key policy and advocacy outcomes, supporting continuous improvement in strategy and execution.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5–7 years of experience in healthcare policy.
  • Demonstrated experience in policy analysis and stakeholder engagement.
  • Understanding of the regulatory and reimbursement environment.
