The Role of Principal Marine Engineer SME

Worley is seeking a Principal Marine Engineer SME for a full-time position in Saudi Arabia. This role involves designing, assigning, supervising, and scheduling Ports & Marine Engineering activities for marine projects. The Principal Marine Engineer SME will be responsible for the technical and business management of all ports and marine engineering elements within executed projects, including the management and technical development of marine structural engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage planning, feasibility, design, and implementation projects, including the development of project proposals and budgets (CTR estimate build-ups).
  • Prepare strategic, marketing, and business development plans to secure Ports and Marine Structures business.
  • Oversee the commercial and technical execution and delivery of regional Marine Structures projects, including annual budgeting and profitability.
  • Support the Manager in the development and sustainable growth of the new group.
  • Build relationships with key regional Port clients.
  • Prepare feasibility and design criteria reports for marine structures engineering works such as quaywalls, jetties, and breakwaters.
  • Identify technology development and training requirements, including participation in international conferences.
  • Cooperate with global Port Planning and Marine Structures Teams and other project groups to monitor strategic objectives regarding technologies, particularly coastal modeling software and data sources.
  • Provide coaching, teaching, mentoring, and effective supervision to assigned personnel.
  • Ensure consistent communication flow within the Ports & Marine Structural Engineering group and with other engineering disciplines.
  • Assist with the upkeep, storage, and listing of all Ports & Marine Structural Engineering specific standards on the computer network.
  • Coordinate Ports & Marine Structural Engineering design activities with other design and engineering groups.
  • Represent the Marine Structural Engineering area in meetings with suppliers, subcontractors, licensors, clients, and other Company disciplines, and produce required documentation.
  • Prepare marketing material and build client relationships.
  • Undertake business travel as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant field.
