About the Private Equity Mentor Role

Wall Street Oasis (WSO) is expanding its Mentorship Program and is seeking experienced professionals to join its roster of mentors. This program is designed to support students and early-career professionals preparing for careers in finance. This is a part-time, remote opportunity with a salary range of $50K–$100K+ per year.

Mentor Responsibilities

Mentors will provide guidance and support to mentees through various channels:

  • 1-on-1 Coaching: Conduct personalized mock interviews, provide resume critiques, and offer career advice. Focus on guiding students targeting private equity recruiting, including transitions from investment banking to private equity, LBO case preparation, and articulating deal experience.
  • Cohort Guidance (Optional): Lead small groups through structured preparation sessions, particularly concerning investment banking and private equity recruiting cycles.
  • Content Contribution (Optional): Assist in enhancing financial modeling and interview preparation standards, and contribute to the improvement of student-facing materials.
  • Share Insights: Provide real-world insights and constructive feedback to help mentees succeed in their career development.

Required Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Professionals with established experience in Private Equity, Growth Equity, or Buy-Side Investing.
  • Current or former Private Equity Associates, Senior Associates, Vice Presidents, Principals, or Investment Banking professionals with significant deal exposure.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Successful mentors will demonstrate:

  • Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in advising and developing early-career talent.
  • A consistent, detail-oriented approach to mentorship.
  • The ability to provide actionable, real-world feedback.

Program Structure and Commitment

This role offers flexibility and a low time commitment, allowing mentors to contribute on their own schedule. Mentors can choose to coach a few hours per month or dedicate more time if desired. The work is entirely remote, enabling participation from any location.
