About the Role

Al Salama Hospital is seeking a qualified Respiratory Therapist to join its team. This full-time role involves performing diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care procedures as defined within the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice.

Role Context and Collaboration

The Respiratory Therapist will work in collaboration with physicians and other Respiratory Therapists. The role spans across neonatal, pediatric, and adult patient populations, providing care in intermediate wards, intensive care units, pulmonary function labs, sleep labs, and emergency care areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advanced respiratory support, mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, and airway management to critically ill patients in Intensive Care Units (ICU, CCU, PICU, NICU).
• Perform rapid assessment and intervention for patients experiencing respiratory distress in the Emergency Department (ER), assisting in intubation and resuscitation procedures.
• Conduct pulmonary function tests (PFT) to assess lung capacity and airway disorders, ensuring accurate documentation and interpretation of results.
• Assist in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders in the Sleep Lab, operating and monitoring polysomnography equipment.
• Deliver routine respiratory therapy for hospitalized patients in Inpatient Wards and educate patients on respiratory care techniques and proper equipment usage.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma of Science in Respiratory Care/Therapy from a recognized university or college.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy.
• Desired: 5 years of experience in respiratory care and completion of specialized respiratory therapy training.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of respiratory care techniques and ventilator management.
• Proficiency in operating respiratory therapy equipment.
• Understanding of infection control and sterilization protocols.
• Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments.
