Role Nature and Responsibilities

This role is for a fully remote, freelance Script Reader position, available to candidates from anywhere. As a Script Reader, you will be responsible for reviewing Arabic and Saudi scripts and producing comprehensive coverage reports with clear recommendations. Your analysis will extend to story, characters, dialogue, structure, and pacing, as well as evaluating the market and production potential of each project.

  • In-depth review of Arabic and Saudi scripts.
  • Writing structured coverage reports with clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Analyzing script elements including story, character development, dialogue, structure, and pacing.
  • Evaluating the market potential of each project, including commercial viability, comparable titles, target audience, and platform fit.
  • Positioning the project within the spectrum of festival-oriented vs. commercial appeal.
  • Highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each script.
  • Suggesting revisions and identifying potential next steps for script development.
  • Working flexibly on a per-script basis to meet project requirements.

Qualifications and Basic Requirements

  • Experience in writing, directing, or producing at least one short film that has been screened.
  • Proven script reading and coverage writing skills, with the ability to provide clear, balanced, and actionable feedback.
  • A genuine understanding of the Arab and Saudi market and audience.
  • Ability to evaluate a script not just as a narrative, but as a project with a viable commercial path.
  • Proficiency in Arabic, reading and writing.
  • Strong understanding of narrative structure, character arcs, genre conventions, and principles of visual storytelling.
