Job Description

About the Senior Site Reliability Engineer Role

Salla is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to contribute to the design, scaling, and security of its rapidly expanding platform infrastructure. This full-time position is based in Medina, Al Madinah Province. The role involves working across critical systems, including customer-facing applications, APIs, internal platforms, and data services, to ensure high availability, performance, and cost efficiency at scale. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience and a strong aptitude for complex distributed systems, automation, and balancing speed, stability, and cost-effectiveness in production environments.

Platform and Infrastructure Reliability

In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end reliability of our platform. This includes:

  • Designing, deploying, monitoring, and maintaining production workloads on Kubernetes clusters (EKS/AKS/GKE).
  • Building self-healing, auto-scaling systems to minimize manual intervention and ensure high uptime.
  • Designing and operating reliable database and storage platforms (SQL, NoSQL, object stores) within Kubernetes.
  • Implementing backup, disaster recovery, replication, and failover strategies to meet RPO/RTO targets.
  • Troubleshooting and recovering Kubernetes Persistent Volumes, including StorageClasses, CSI drivers, and PVC issues.
  • Optimizing storage performance and cost through multi-tier strategies, data separation, and lifecycle policies.
  • Securing and scaling object storage platforms (*, MinIO/S3-compatible) for high-throughput data pipelines.
  • Managing block storage (EBS/io2/gp3) and shared file systems (EFS, NFS) for resilience and cost balance.
  • Collaborating with teams to optimize networking, ingress/egress traffic, and service mesh for secure communication.

Automation, Delivery, and Observability

You will drive efficiency through automation and ensure comprehensive system visibility:

  • Championing GitOps and CI/CD best practices using tools like ArgoCD, Flux, and GitHub Actions.
  • Building automation for infrastructure provisioning and upgrades with Terraform, Helm, and Kubernetes Operators.
  • Reducing release risk through progressive delivery strategies such as blue/green, canary, and spot instance rolling updates.
  • Owning the monitoring and alerting stack, including Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, VictoriaMetrics, and OpenSearch.
  • Leading incident management and postmortems to prevent recurrence and improve system resilience.
  • Providing real-time visibility into system health, performance, and cost metrics.

Security, Compliance, and Optimization

Ensuring the security and cost-effectiveness of our infrastructure is paramount:

  • Implementing least-privilege IAM policies, secure service-to-service communication, and network access controls.
  • Enforcing Kubernetes RBAC, secure secret management, and a secure image supply chain.
  • Participating in audit readiness and compliance efforts.
  • Analyzing and tuning system performance under scale (CPU/memory/IO).
  • Partnering with product and platform teams to right-size clusters, databases, and storage tiers.
  • Introducing cost visibility dashboards for engineering leadership.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years in SRE, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
  • Deep expertise in Kubernetes, including multi-cluster management, Helm chart development, and advanced networking.
  • Strong proficiency with GitOps workflows using ArgoCD or Flux.
  • Expertise with cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP, coupled with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (*, MySQL/Aurora, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
  • Scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Solid background in monitoring and observability tools (*, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK/OpenSearch, VictoriaMetrics).
  • Experience with CI/CD at scale and managing production incidents.
  • Experience with streaming/messaging technologies like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional experience that would be beneficial includes:

  • Experience managing mission-critical systems at scale, handling high traffic and multi-region deployments.
  • Proven success in cost optimization within cloud and Kubernetes environments.
  • Familiarity with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd) or advanced networking/egress control.
  • Experience with data platform components (*, Airflow, Debezium, ClickHouse).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, DevOps, security, and product teams.

Requirements

  • Requires +10 Years experience
