About the Role

ADES - Advanced Energy Systems is seeking a skilled and dedicated Welder to join our team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is critical for maintaining, repairing, and constructing metal structures, equipment, and piping systems onboard a rig. The Welder will be responsible for performing various welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks, ensuring all work adheres to safety standards and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diverse welding, cutting, brazing, and burning tasks, including necessary site preparation and material handling.
  • Obtain required work permits before commencing electric welding or using grinding equipment, completing all associated paperwork.
  • Ensure a fire watcher is in place when necessary, in accordance with Client and Company procedures.
  • Inspect welded joints for visible defects, correct dimensions, bead formation, and weld penetration to ensure conformance with work orders and layout specifications.
  • Execute repairs, construction, or modifications to rig equipment and structures in compliance with applicable standards.
  • Fabricate and install new sections of pipe and steel according to industry regulations.
  • Assist with non-welding duties as assigned by the supervisor to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Immediately report any equipment damage to rig supervisors.

Equipment and Workshop Management

  • Maintain welding and cutting equipment, including oxygen and acetylene bottles, in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
  • Keep the Welder workshop clean, tidy, and free from hazards.
  • Dispose of debris as per the company’s hazardous material segregation and waste management policies, taking into consideration environmental and safety aspects.

Documentation and Inventory Control

  • Maintain accurate records (reports and logs) of welding activities and materials to assist in the weight control process.
  • Report steel weights added and removed to the Barge Master for light ship additions and calculations.
  • Ensure personal welding certification coding is current and complies with company standards.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of consumables is available for welding and fabrication operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum education level of High School or Vocational/Technical education.
  • Holds current or has evidence of expired coding certificates (*, 3G, 6G, ABS, or other class certification).
  • At least two (2) years of working experience in drilling and workover operations with a reputable drilling contractor.
  • Knowledge of fabrication and pipework is advantageous, along with experience in welding stainless steel and mixed metal alloys.
  • Working experience on Offshore rigs is preferred.

Physical Demands and Certifications

  • Ability to perform extremely heavy work.
  • Comfortable working at extreme heights and in closed areas (without acrophobia or claustrophobia).
  • Capable of constantly climbing (stairs, ladders), pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and standing in accordance with Company procedure.
  • Ability to work outdoors under all extreme weather conditions (noise, humidity, cold, heat).
  • Availability to work day/night shifts, with a minimum of 12-hour shifts.
  • Possession of a Valid ABS 6G/6GR Certificate.
