About the Role

Gulf Center for Geophysical Consulting is seeking an experienced Safe Operating Standards (SOS) Specialist to support our Engineering & Field Operations team. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and focuses on enhancing safety and operational efficiency across various projects.

Role Overview

The Safe Operating Standards Specialist will lead the development and implementation of Safe Operating Standards (SOS), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Method Statements. This role is crucial for civil construction, drilling, infrastructure, and engineering projects, requiring close collaboration with engineering, construction, operations, and quality teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, author, and maintain Safe Operating Standards (SOS), SOPs, Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and Method Statements.
• Perform task-based hazard identification, risk assessments, and define appropriate control measures.
• Prepare Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and support QA/QC documentation.
• Establish and improve quality assurance procedures and management systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, planning, construction, and operations teams to ensure procedures reflect actual work practices.
• Support constructability reviews and identify safety risks during project planning.
• Assist project teams with the implementation of safe work procedures on site.
• Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and procedural training.
• Review and update procedures following incidents, audits, or project changes.
• Participate in internal and external quality and safety audits.
• Promote continuous improvement in safety, quality, and operational performance.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should possess 5 to 10 years of experience in a relevant field. The role requires a strong background in developing and implementing safety and operational standards, particularly within civil construction, drilling, infrastructure, or engineering projects.

Collaboration and Project Integration

This role involves extensive collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, planning, construction, and operations. The Specialist will ensure that safety and quality procedures are integrated effectively from project planning through to execution, contributing to a robust safety culture and operational excellence.
