About the Steward Role at W Hotels

W Hotels is seeking a dedicated Steward to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time position offers an opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of our kitchen and service areas. The role requires an individual with a strong work ethic and attention to detail, with no prior experience necessary.

Core Responsibilities

The Steward will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization within the kitchen and storage areas. Key duties include operating and maintaining cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. This involves washing and disinfecting kitchen equipment, tools, tables, and utensils. The role also includes receiving deliveries, ensuring proper storage of perishables, and managing stock rotation to maintain freshness and availability.

Daily Operational Tasks

  • Utilizing appropriate chemicals in the three-compartment sink for effective dishwashing, rinsing, and sanitization.
  • Inspecting, stacking, and organizing cleaned items, and returning soiled items for re-cleaning.
  • Rinsing racked items with hot water to remove food residue.
  • Sorting, soaking, and washing silverware.
  • Breaking down and cleaning used bus tubs.
  • Emptying and maintaining the cleanliness of trashcans and the dumpster area.
  • Cleaning and mopping all assigned areas.
  • Properly disposing of glass items in designated containers.
  • Breaking down cardboard boxes and placing them and other recyclables in the appropriate bins.

Safety and Compliance

Adherence to all company policies and safety procedures is paramount. This includes reporting any maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, or unsafe working conditions to management. The Steward will also complete required safety training and certifications to ensure a secure work environment and protect company assets. Effective communication and maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues are essential for supporting team goals and upholding quality standards.

Physical Requirements

This role involves physical activity. Candidates must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. The position requires standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods. Reaching overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping, will be necessary. Reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors may also be assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

No specific educational qualifications, such as a high school diploma or *** equivalent, are required for this position. Similarly, no prior related work experience or supervisory experience is necessary. The company is looking for individuals eager to learn and contribute to the team.
