The Role of a Mortuary Technician

This full-time technical position plays a critical role in the hospital's operations, ensuring the dignified, safe, and hygienic management of the mortuary facility. The Mortuary Technician is responsible for maintaining strict adherence to Ministry of Health (MOH) infection control protocols, upholding the physical chain of custody for deceased patients, and managing environmental safety standards within the cold storage facility. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to established procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive bodies from clinical wards, verifying "Dual Identifier" tags and accurately documenting the chain of custody in the Morgue Register.
• Monitor and record temperature and humidity levels of cold chambers in accordance with established policies and procedures, reporting any deviations immediately.
• Coordinate terminal cleaning and disinfection of storage units, hydraulic lifts, and all mortuary surfaces using approved hospital-grade agents.
• Apply specific Ministry of Health (MOH) precautions, such as shrouding or bagging, for High-Risk Infectious bodies, including cases like COVID-19 and MERS.
• Assist forensic authorities with body identification and sample preservation when police cases occur, ensuring proper protocols are followed.
• Physically release bodies to authorized family members or municipality services, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 0-1 years of relevant experience in a similar technical or healthcare support capacity. A foundational understanding of hygiene and safety protocols is essential.
