About Tecnimont and the Project

Tecnimont, a leading international engineering and construction contractor, has been awarded two lump-sum turn-key EPC contracts for a significant petrochemical expansion at the SATORP Refinery in Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Total Energies involves the execution of two packages: the “Derivatives Units” and the “High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) & Logistic Area,” with an overall contract value of approximately USD 2 billion. The project scope encompasses complete engineering services, equipment and material supply, construction activities, pre-commissioning, and commissioning, with an estimated duration of four years.

The Role: Steel Structure Supervisor

Tecnimont is seeking a dedicated Steel Structure Supervisor to join our project team in Al Jubayl, Saudi Arabia. This is a contract position critical to ensuring the successful execution of steel structure works. The supervisor will be responsible for directing Subcontractor activities within their discipline, ensuring all plant construction works adhere to erection schedules, project documentation, assigned cost budgets, and established Quality and Safety procedures, as well as the terms and conditions of the subcontract. The supervisor may be supported by one or more assistants.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify the Supplier’s material and technical documentation delivery schedule against construction schedules and contractual commitments prior to work commencement.
• Control and approve Method Statements submitted by Subcontractors, ensuring correct field application.
• Ensure the implementation of all HSE procedures and standards within areas or activities of responsibility, including those of subcontractors.
• Actively participate in site HSE activities as defined in the Site HSE plan and related procedures.
• Monitor schedule adherence and initiate actions to recover any delays.
• Assess the adequacy of equipment and manpower deployed by Subcontractors and verify work conformity to design documents, safety regulations, and specified quality levels.
• Conduct inspections and sign necessary certificates in accordance with Site Inspection Plans.
• Prepare non-conformity registers for each Subcontractor and coordinate their resolution.
• Identify design errors, rectify them where possible, or request necessary changes from the Site Engineer.
• Review and approve Subcontractors’ work progress status sheets.
• Manage vendor specialists involved in steel structure activities.
• Support the Contract Manager/Engineer in defining new prices, preparing subcontract amendments, and analyzing and discussing claims.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess a strong background in steel structure construction supervision within large-scale industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have:

• Between 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in steel structure supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractor activities effectively.
• Thorough understanding of construction schedules, project documentation, quality standards, and safety procedures.
• Proficiency in reviewing technical documentation, method statements, and work progress reports.
• Strong commitment to HSE principles and site safety plans.
