About the Country Manager Role

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is seeking a Country Manager to lead its operations in Dammam, Eastern Region. This full-time position is central to managing the operational, technical, and sales activities across the country for the related business. The role focuses on driving business revenue growth, enhancing operational efficiency, and maximizing profitability, all while cultivating a supportive and rewarding work environment for the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategic regional business plan focused on growth, executable sales, and brand identity.
  • Lead the local Quality Evaluations (QE) team in all aspects of business management and personnel development.
  • Communicate effectively with the President and peers to share resources and ideas.
  • Make informed management and strategy decisions to improve overall business performance.
  • Prepare aggressive yet attainable budgets and comprehensive business plans.
  • Act as an ABS ambassador, actively promoting the ABS brand to customers.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of the market and competitive landscape to identify and explore opportunities for growth, including new services and acquisitions.
  • Ensure competitive pricing strategies are in line with business guidelines.
  • Support international sales activities as required.
  • Minimize operational costs without compromising sales targets or service delivery standards.
  • Ensure consistent service delivery based on customer feedback.
  • Implement standard group processes across the country for IT, HR, Legal, Compliance, and Finance, ensuring appropriate financial and process controls.
  • Operate to the highest ethical standards, adhering to the ABS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and establish and maintain a strong safety culture.
  • Identify, assess, develop, coach, and promote talent within the organization.
  • Manage backlog, Accounts Receivable, cash flow, Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or a recognized equivalent from an accredited university, or equivalent business/quality-related experience.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of previous related industry experience.
  • Appropriate certification and/or licenses in the area of specialization, as required.
  • Prior experience in management systems certification is a significant advantage.
  • Demonstrated P&L (Profit & Loss) experience.
  • A graduate business degree is considered a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to coordinate and motivate teams toward common goals.
  • Capability to translate strategic objectives into pragmatic action plans and execute them effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with computers for preparing presentations and communications, and for working with ABS QE’s operating platforms.
  • Business experience within a technical service and/or consulting service industry.
  • International exposure and flexibility, including willingness to travel.
  • Perceptive and responsive to multicultural environments.
  • Possesses the energy to motivate teams to deliver as a core attitude.
  • Ability to obtain working knowledge of the ABS Quality Evaluations Business Assurance System.

Reporting Structure

The Country Manager reports directly to the Vice President or President of ABS QE. This role may also include managing individual contractor direct reports.
