About the Role

Sycomp, a global IT services and logistics provider, is seeking a skilled **Datacenter Engineer** for a contract role in Dammam, Eastern Region. This position focuses on leading and executing data center infrastructure deployments and field implementations at customer sites. The role is project-driven and requires hands-on expertise in multi-vendor environments.

Role Context and Responsibilities

As a Datacenter Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of data center infrastructure projects. This involves direct engagement with customers, OEMs, and internal teams to ensure successful site delivery and acceptance. You will act as a technical lead on site, overseeing installations, configurations, and troubleshooting.

• Lead and execute end-to-end rack deployments, including mounting, securing, structured cabling, power integration, grounding, and labeling.
• Perform onsite installation, configuration, and commissioning of servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet, HPE, and Dell.
• Manage site delivery and acceptance in coordination with customers, OEM engineers, and Sycomp project teams.
• Conduct fiber and copper termination, patching, OTDR testing, and performance validation.
• Validate LAN/WAN connectivity, redundancy, failover, and security configurations against approved designs.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis during installation and post-deployment support.
• Produce and maintain as-built documentation, including rack elevations, test results, and handover reports.
• Ensure all onsite work adheres to data center operational standards, safety procedures, and ESD best practices.
• Act as a technical lead on site, mentoring junior engineers and field technicians.

Required Qualifications and Experience

This role requires a strong foundation in data center operations and field engineering. Candidates should possess proven experience working within diverse, multi-vendor environments and a solid understanding of core infrastructure components.

• Strong hands-on experience in data center deployments and field engineering.
• Proven ability to work in multi-vendor network and compute environments.
• Solid expertise in:
  • Structured cabling systems (fiber & copper)
  • Rack integration and power layout
  • Network hardware installation and validation
• Experience performing OTDR testing and interpreting fiber test results.
• Ability to read and execute engineering designs, rack elevations, and cabling schematics.
• Strong customer-facing communication and onsite coordination skills.
• Self-driven, quality-focused, and comfortable owning end-to-end delivery.

Additional Skills and Experience

While not strictly required, certain additional experiences can be beneficial for this role.

• Prior experience in large-scale or multi-site data center deployments.
• Exposure to acceptance testing and commissioning sign-off processes.
• Leadership or site-lead experience on customer projects.

Work Arrangement

This is a contract role with an initial term of 12 months, extendable based on project needs. The position is located in Dammam, Eastern Region.
