About the Role

Halian is seeking a highly skilled GCP Cloud Security Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team in Dammam, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires a strong foundation in traditional security practices combined with expertise in modern cloud environments, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The successful candidate will primarily focus on maintaining and enhancing existing security infrastructure while strategically applying GCP knowledge to improve and modernize specific security functions.

Key Responsibilities

The Security Engineer will be responsible for a range of tasks focused on ensuring the stability and security posture of legacy systems, including:

• Assessing, analyzing, and mitigating security vulnerabilities and risks across extensive legacy systems, prioritizing their stability and security.
• Designing, implementing, and managing security controls and solutions for legacy systems, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control mechanisms.
• Developing and maintaining security policies, standards, and procedures for legacy systems to ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Monitoring and responding to security incidents related to legacy systems, encompassing investigation, containment, and remediation efforts.
• Providing expert-level support and troubleshooting for legacy security infrastructure.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the secure integration of new technologies with existing legacy systems.
• Evaluating and recommending security enhancements for legacy systems to address evolving threats.

GCP Integration and Modernization

In addition to legacy system management, this role involves applying GCP expertise to specific security projects, including:

• Integrating legacy security logs with GCP's security monitoring tools, such as Security Command Center.
• Utilizing GCP services to enhance specific security functions, including threat detection or vulnerability scanning, where appropriate.
• Assisting with the secure migration of select security workloads to GCP.
• Providing security guidance and training to engineering teams on legacy security best practices and fundamental GCP security principles.

Required Experience and Qualifications

Candidates for this position should demonstrate a robust background in security engineering and possess the following:

• Experience: 5-10 years of experience as a Security Engineer with a strong focus on traditional security practices.
• Technical Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of legacy security systems and a solid understanding of integrating these practices with modern cloud environments.
• Platform Expertise: Specific expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is required.
• Security Tools: Proficiency with firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control mechanisms.
• Security Operations: Experience in vulnerability assessment, risk mitigation, security policy development, incident monitoring, and response.
