About the Key Account Manager Role
AkzoNobel, a company with a history dating back to 1792, is seeking a Key Account Manager to join its team in Dammam, Eastern Province. This full-time position focuses on expanding the company's presence within the Protective Coatings market by identifying and securing new business opportunities. The role requires a proactive approach to developing new client relationships and driving profitable growth.
Role Purpose and Focus
The primary objective of the Key Account Manager is to identify, develop, and secure new business within the Protective Coatings sector. This role is characterized by a strong emphasis on "hunting" for new customers, projects, and market segments. The position involves expanding AkzoNobel's footprint with strategic accounts that have high growth potential, requiring significant commercial drive and market insight to convert opportunities into sustainable business.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and target new customers and business opportunities within assigned industries and territories.
- Secure new projects and maintenance opportunities, focusing on first-time wins with new or underpenetrated customers.
- Develop and implement account entry strategies to establish relationships with key decision-makers in new accounts.
- Manage the full sales cycle, from initial opportunity identification through negotiation, closing, and handover.
- Prepare and deliver value-based proposals tailored to customer needs and AkzoNobel's solutions.
- Conduct commercial negotiations and align pricing, terms, and conditions with management as needed.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, EPCs, contractors, and asset owners.
- Act as the main commercial point of contact for assigned customers during opportunity development and execution phases.
- Coordinate internal resources, including Technical Service, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Specification, and Marketing, to support new business acquisition.
- Monitor market trends, customer strategies, competitor activities, and project pipelines.
- Provide structured feedback to management on market developments, risks, and growth opportunities.
- Maintain accurate opportunity, forecast, and activity documentation within the CRM system.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, pricing governance, contracts, and HSE standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of proven B2B sales experience, preferably within protective coatings, paints, industrial products, or project-based industries.
- Demonstrated success in hunting new business, opening new accounts, and winning initial projects.
- Experience in competitive, project-driven, or Oil & Gas / Industrial / Infrastructure environments is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in using CRM tools for forecasting and opportunity management.
Required Skills and Attributes
- A strong hunter mentality with high energy, resilience, and a results-oriented approach.
- Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Ability to identify key decision-makers and influence stakeholders at various organizational levels.
- Strong communication and presentation skills in English; Arabic language proficiency is an advantage.
- Capacity to work effectively across different functions and manage multiple opportunities concurrently.
