About the Role
AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced MEP Engineer, specializing in Mechanical, Fire Protection (FP), Electrical (EM), and Communication Systems (CS), to join our team in Dammam, Eastern Province. This full-time position requires a professional with over 10 years of experience to support the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions within railway projects.
Role Overview
The MEP Engineer will be responsible for the technical review of documentation and supervision of construction works related to mechanical, HVAC, hydraulic systems, and fire protection for new and updated railway facilities. This role involves ensuring full compliance with applicable standards and requirements, delivering robust and compliant engineering outcomes. Collaboration with electrical engineers and various internal and external stakeholders is essential throughout all project stages, from concept design to final handover, including testing and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical and fire protection elements from conceptualization to completion, ensuring adherence to design specifications and timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, contractors, project managers, commercial staff, and project controls, to develop project plans and budgets.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Ensure projects meet specifications, deadlines, and quality standards.
- Review technical documentation for completeness and compliance with project requirements, interfaces, stakeholder needs, and applicable standards. This includes design submissions, shop drawings, as-built drawings, calculations, assessments, technical specifications, interface documents, value engineering reports, material requests, system code classifications, and bills of quantities.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary reviews of technical documents to ensure full coordination of deliverables.
- Participate in producing and reviewing value engineering proposals.
- Conduct quality inspections and oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical and fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and addressing potential issues and deviations in collaboration with Project Control Teams.
- Report regularly in accordance with project and company policies.
- Ensure adherence to the project and company quality program and policies.
- Stay updated on the latest engineering technologies and best practices.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams.
- Promote a culture of safety.
- Perform walkdowns, attend site visits, and meetings as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in mechanical engineering and fire protection, preferably combining construction supervision and technical review.
- Experience performing engineering work in accordance with railway systems procedures, standards, and practices, and KSA regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices in mechanical engineering.
- Working knowledge of or experience using mechanical and fire protection codes and standards applicable to railway systems in KSA, including but not limited to Saudi Building Code, Civil Defence requirements, and NFPA standards.
- Experience in analyzing project requirements and checking for their implementation in technical documentation and site works through inspections and testing processes.
- Experience working in coordination with multidisciplinary teams and in collaboration with project organization functions.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make decisions in dynamic project environments.
- Good communication skills for effective collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality mechanical projects.
Work Location and Type
This is a full-time position based in Dammam, Eastern Province.
