Senior Engineer I/II

About the Role

The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is seeking a Senior Engineer I/II for a full-time position in Dammam, Eastern region. This role involves planning, conducting, and supervising engineering design reviews and analysis assignments for major projects or multiple smaller projects. The position requires the application of conventional knowledge within a specific engineering or scientific field, with project work potentially broad in scope and requiring cross-functional coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership to assigned Engineering staff, including project assignment and progress monitoring.
• Ensure high-quality service delivery and maintain positive customer relations.
• Develop new approaches to problems and recommend changes in methods, procedures, or design as needed.
• Monitor the technical quality, content, consistency, continuity, and timeliness of action for all assigned projects.
• Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of technical responsibility.
• Perform engineering reviews and analyses, and review other engineers' work, providing guidance and training.
• Participate in the development and modification of Rules, and advise staff on their application.
• Prepare written responses to clients in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain liaison with internal and external engineering specialists.
• Monitor the performance, development potential, and training needs of assigned engineers, and inform management of manpower requirements.
• Develop or assist in the development of qualification statements, proposals, bids, and other presentation materials.

Reporting Structure

The Senior Engineer I/II generally reports to a Principal Engineer, though reporting lines may vary based on specific assignments. This position does not have any direct reports.

Required Experience

• Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience.
