Senior Design Mechanical Engineer SHQJEDD

About the Role

Tractebel is seeking a Senior Design Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, with responsibilities spanning Jeddah and Makkah. This full-time role involves managing design works, coordinating with contractors and consultants, and ensuring the quality of engineering deliverables for large thermal power projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare specifications for mechanical designs.
• Coordinate design reviews with relevant stakeholders.
• Manage design works in collaboration with contractors and consultants.
• Ensure internal coordination with other engineering disciplines.
• Oversee all design review activities for base and detailed engineering submittals, drawings, and documents.
• Evaluate claims and change orders related to mechanical engineering.
• Contribute to the close-out report for the LSTK Steam Power Plant Gas Conversion Project.

Required Experience and Skills

• Demonstrated experience in mechanical design and engineering.

• Proficiency in reviewing EPC submitted engineering documents for the Mechanical discipline, including:

  • Master Documents List (MDL)
  • Design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, GA, HMBD
  • Design calculations and studies, CFD modeling
  • Manuals, FAT procedures and reports (including attending FAT if necessary)
  • Construction, commissioning reliability, and performance test procedures and reports
  • Method statements for construction/installation
  • Vendor materials procurement review
  • Review of proposed vendors/suppliers design/drawings and design documents
  • Design and field changes (as required)
  • As-built drawings, IFC/AFC/AFI drawings, and red markup drawings
  • Studies, Hazop/Hazid/SIL, Risk assessment and mitigation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, approved by the Saudi Council of Engineers.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in large Thermal Power Projects.
• Thorough knowledge of relevant International Standards.
• Proficiency in relevant design software.
• Well-versed in MS Office and familiar with MIS.
• Good English communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, with project responsibilities extending to Jeddah. The role requires close collaboration with internal teams, contractors, and consultants on significant thermal power projects.
