About the Opportunity

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a dedicated Wheel/Tyre Technician to join their team in Dhahran. This full-time position is open exclusively to Saudi Nationals and requires a high level of commitment to maintaining aircraft wheel systems.

Role Purpose

The Wheel/Tyre Technician plays a critical role in supporting the flying programme and scheduled maintenance activities. This involves ensuring the continuous availability of serviceable aircraft wheels through meticulous disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and testing of components, alongside diligent documentation and strict adherence to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform disassembly of aircraft wheels and conduct thorough cleaning of all components.
  • Execute reassembly of aircraft wheels, including hub assembly, wheel inflation, and pressure testing.
  • Prepare and accurately complete all required maintenance documentation and reports.
  • Maintain equipment specific to the job role and ensure its operational readiness.
  • Maintain a sufficient quantity of serviceable aircraft wheels for immediate deployment to support the flying programme and scheduled maintenance.
  • Report and encourage expedient Error Management Reporting, addressing or highlighting any safety concerns and failings immediately.
  • Assist within the area-of-responsibility with regards to audits and take responsibility for addressing or ratifying any audit findings when required.
  • Manage personal time and attendance, mandatory training, competencies, authorisations, Saudi Council of Engineering membership, and leave usage in accordance with company policy.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to improve and enhance the delivery of the TSS service, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

  • A recognised qualification to NVQ3/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, a technical apprenticeship, or a suitable equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA. Alternatively, a Part 66 license (current or lapsed) or a suitable equivalent technical license acceptable to M&CA.
  • Relevant type training (Q Course) and specific training if required.
  • Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineering (SCE).
  • At least 5 years of post-qualification practical maintenance experience within an operational flying aircraft environment, supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training. Alternatively, 3 years on the same aircraft type, or successful completion of a BAESSA apprenticeship programme (SNTTP/TSNTTP).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of aircraft maintenance and engineering principles.
  • Understanding and application of human factors, error management, health and safety regulations, and proactive hazard analysis appropriate to the role.
  • Basic IT literacy skills and some knowledge of asset tracking or MRP systems.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Broad knowledge of the Aerospace and Defence company or industry.
  • Ability to understand and use the Maintenance GoldESP system or similar platforms.
  • Full conversance with the interpretation of technical diagrams and documentation.
  • Experience as a stores person, including the ability to drive a forklift truck, and full conversance with logistics, warehouse management systems, locations, and safe handling methods.
  • Experience in using special-to-type containers and awareness of potential hazards caused by incorrect storage, such as moisture ingress and cadmium corrosion.
