Assistant Director of Sales

About the Role

Marriott International is seeking an Assistant Director of Sales to join its team in Jeddah. This full-time position supports the property's segmented sales efforts, focusing on achieving segment and property revenue goals, alongside ensuring guest and employee satisfaction. The role involves managing daily sales activities with an emphasis on building long-term, value-based customer relationships to meet sales objectives and personal booking goals.

Sales Strategy and Development

This position contributes to the development and execution of sales strategies, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives:

• Collaborate with the sales leader to ensure understanding and effective implementation of sales strategies for specific market segments.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and sustaining solicitation programs focused on increasing business volume.
• Work with the management team to create and implement a sales plan addressing revenue, customer needs, and market conditions for the segment.
• Support the development and implementation of both internal and external promotions.

Revenue Maximization and Sales Management

The Assistant Director of Sales is responsible for driving revenue and managing sales operations effectively:

• Provide leadership to ensure maximum revenue potential, including setting an example through personal booking goals and recommending booking goals for sales team members.
• Approve space release for catering to maximize revenue, particularly in the absence of a Business Evaluation Manager.
• Participate in sales calls with team members to acquire new business and close deals.
• Execute and support the operational aspects of booked business, such as generating proposals, writing contracts, and managing customer correspondence.
• Analyze market information using sales systems and implement strategies to achieve the property’s financial room and catering goals.
• Assist Revenue Management with completing accurate six-period projections and review sales and catering guest satisfaction results to identify areas for improvement.

Customer Service and Relationship Building

A key aspect of this role involves fostering strong customer relationships and ensuring high standards of service:

• Display leadership in guest hospitality, exemplify customer service, and create a positive example for guest relations.
• Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels, including during pre- and post-convention meetings.
• Empower employees to provide excellent customer service and provide feedback on service behaviors.
• Ensure a customer recognition program is active throughout the Sales department.
• Execute and support the company’s Customer Service Standards and property’s Brand Standards.
• Serve customers by understanding their needs and recommending appropriate features and services to exceed expectations and build loyalty.
• Develop and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including off-property sales channels.
• Attend customer events, trade shows, and sales missions to maintain, build, and develop key relationships.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should meet the following educational and professional experience requirements:

• A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major, combined with 3 years of experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area.
• OR a 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major, combined with 1 year of experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area.
