CNS Systems Engineer

About the Role

Saudi Air Navigation Services (SANS) is seeking a CNS Systems Engineer to join their team in Jeddah. This full-time role involves participating in the deployment of communication, navigational aids, and surveillance (CNS) systems, ensuring they meet operational needs and requirements to deliver safe and efficient Air Traffic Control services. The position requires 0-1 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the development and maintenance of current and future CNS system designs to meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist the CNS Systems Engineering Chief in assessing the impact of changes in ATS procedures and airspace structure on CNS systems.
• Coordinate with other Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) for technical interfacing, integration, and communication.
• Evaluate the impact of obstacles around airports on CNS system functionality and escalate unacceptable obstacles.
• Handle CNS systems initiatives and programs.
• Participate and introduce Working Papers in international and regional conferences and ICAO panels related to CNS systems.

CNS System Operations and Development

• Support the development of the CNS/ATM Evolution Plan, ensuring all CNS system needs are captured and addressed.
• Translate air traffic CNS requirements from Control Centers and ATS Units into technical plans and programs.
• Participate in the testing, commissioning, and handover of CNS system projects, verifying that delivered systems meet specifications and performance requirements.
• Support maintenance activities for CNS systems to ensure effective operation.
• Monitor on-site activities to ensure adherence to agreed specifications and quality standards, taking action on deviations.
• Develop CNS systems requirements scope of works (SOWs).
• Participate in reviewing and evaluating technical proposals for CNS systems.

Design and Quality Assurance

• Coordinate with other Engineering Services Department (ESD) departments to ensure compatibility of CNS system designs with current and future CNS/ATM systems and infrastructure.
• Participate in system design review (SDR), preliminary design review (PDR), and critical design review (CDR) meetings.
• Participate in the analysis of system trouble reports (STRs) and conduct required modification programs and system change processes (SCPs).
• Advise the CNS Systems Engineering Chief of any potential impact of ongoing projects on ATC service delivery.

Policies and Procedures

• Participate in updating SANS general and technical standards and specifications.
• Participate in updating ESD manuals.
• Participate in internal and external CNS systems audit reviews.
