Consultant General Surgery

About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant – General Surgery to provide specialized general surgery care within the ICC physical clinic in Jeddah. This part-time, in-person role focuses on evaluating, diagnosing, and managing a broad range of acute and chronic general surgical conditions. The consultant will deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care during scheduled clinic sessions, ensuring continuity of care and effective surgical case management.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive general surgery care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up for acute and chronic surgical conditions.
• Conduct thorough clinical evaluations, including history taking, physical examination, and review of laboratory and imaging findings.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based management plans, encompassing non-operative management, pre-operative work-up, and referrals.
• Manage common general surgery conditions such as hernias, gallbladder disease, soft tissue and skin lesions, breast lumps, and anorectal conditions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure integrated, patient-centered care.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to support seamless handover and continuity of care.
• Promote surgical health through preventive counseling and timely referrals, applying population health and value-based care principles.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, providing clear guidance on diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Ensure compliance with clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards, maintaining accurate and complete medical documentation.
• Contribute to clinical governance by participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and regulatory compliance programs.

Professional Development and EHR Proficiency

• Maintain and continuously enhance clinical knowledge in general surgery through ongoing professional development.
• Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and continuing medical education (CME) activities.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the clinic's EHR system for efficient and well-documented consultations.
• Participate in ongoing training and adopt system enhancements to optimize performance.

Patient Safety and Satisfaction

• Uphold the highest standards of patient safety by adhering to established clinical safety protocols.
• Identify, report, and escalate patient safety risks, incidents, and quality concerns.
• Counsel patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication use, and follow-up care.
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered consultations through effective communication and shared decision-making.

Collaboration with Healthcare Teams

• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Provide clinical expertise and recommendations to support evidence-based decision-making.
• Facilitate clear and timely communication among healthcare professionals to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Mentor and support junior physicians and healthcare professionals through clinical guidance and knowledge sharing.
