Role Summary

Artefact is seeking an experienced Data Science Manager to lead advanced AI and Data Science projects. This is a senior, client-facing position based in Makkah, specifically in Jeddah or Makkah, requiring a combination of technical depth, business understanding, and consulting skills. The role involves understanding business problems, challenging assumptions, and recommending appropriate technical approaches. The manager will work with senior client stakeholders and Artefact teams to identify AI opportunities, translate business challenges into technical solutions, and guide projects from definition through implementation and delivery. This is a full-time position requiring 5-10 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead AI and Data Science projects, taking technical ownership from problem definition to delivery.
• Translate business challenges into AI/ML solutions, architectures, models, and use cases.
• Evaluate technical approaches and recommend solutions based on business value, feasibility, scalability, and performance.
• Ensure project quality and successful delivery with a focus on measurable client impact.
• Identify and communicate potential risks, limitations, and trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor, understanding client objectives and challenging requirements when necessary.
• Propose alternative approaches for better outcomes and explain technical recommendations.
• Advise clients on the practical application of AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and AI Agents.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior business and technical stakeholders.
• Design and guide the implementation of Generative AI and AI Agent solutions, including model and tool selection.
• Assess GenAI use cases and determine appropriate approaches based on client requirements.
• Stay current with developments in Generative AI, LLMs, and agentic AI, translating them into client solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Data Scientists and project team members.
• Review technical approaches and ensure strong engineering and Data Science practices.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, consultants, cloud specialists, and client teams.
• Contribute to the development of Artefact's AI capabilities and best practices.

Expertise in modern AI, particularly Generative AI and AI Agents, and the ability to translate these technologies into practical solutions are essential. The candidate should be a problem solver who can structure ambiguous business challenges and determine technical paths forward. Strong communication skills are necessary to explain complex ideas, influence technical discussions, and engage with senior stakeholders. The role also involves mentoring junior team members and contributing to their technical development.

Experience and Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in Data Science or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex Data Science, AI, and Generative AI projects.
• Strong technical knowledge combined with leadership and decision-making capabilities.
