About the Role

The Ritz-Carlton in Jeddah is seeking a Financial Controller to serve as the strategic financial business leader for the property. This full-time role involves developing and implementing property-wide strategies to deliver products and services that meet or exceed the expectations of the brand’s target customers and employees. The Financial Controller will provide financial expertise to support the successful implementation of brand service strategies and initiatives, while maximizing return on investment. The position requires 0-1 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial data and market trends to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Forecast sales against expenses and create annual budget plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profit, including estimating costs and benefits and exploring new business ventures.
  • Ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets and improve profitability.
  • Lead accounting teams, fostering sound financial and business decision-making, and holding staff accountable for performance.
  • Support property strategy from a finance and accounting perspective, ensuring timely submission of reports and accurate documentation of Profits and Losses.
  • Monitor applicable taxes, ensuring they are current, collected, and/or accrued.
  • Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Understand and meet the needs of key stakeholders, including owners and corporate, and communicate financial concepts clearly.
  • Advise the General Manager and executive committee on existing and evolving operating and financial issues.
  • Ensure team members are cross-trained and receive appropriate orientation and training.
  • Develop appropriate development plans for team members based on their strengths and career aspirations.

Strategic Planning and Financial Management

The role involves creating and executing a business plan aligned with the property and brand’s business strategy, focusing on financial and accounting activities to deliver desirable financial results. This includes analyzing financial data, market trends, and sales forecasts, as well as identifying opportunities for profit improvement. The Financial Controller will also implement appropriate controls to manage business risks and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.

Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

The Financial Controller will utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead and influence accounting teams, advocating for sound financial decisions. This position requires communicating strategic goals and owner priorities clearly to subordinates and holding staff accountable for successful performance. A key aspect of the role is anticipating and addressing the needs of key stakeholders, including owners and corporate, and advising the executive team on financial matters.

Compliance and Operational Oversight

Ensuring compliance with standard and local operating procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) is critical. The Financial Controller will oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes, making necessary corrections to audit results. This includes ensuring the accuracy of the Profit and Loss statement, with costs properly matched to revenue and recorded in the correct accounts.
