Mechanical Design Lead

About the Role

Egis is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Lead to join its engineering team in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time leadership position involves overseeing mechanical design aspects for airport infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to international standards and the Saudi Building Code. The role requires leading a team of mechanical engineers and designers, focusing on innovation and excellence in MEP system design, and managing complex coordination across various disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and design professionals on airport and aviation facility projects.
• Develop comprehensive mechanical design solutions for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related systems within airport environments.
• Manage the mechanical design phase from concept development through construction documentation.
• Coordinate with architects, electrical engineers, and other disciplines to ensure seamless system integration and clash-free designs.
• Utilize BIM and advanced design software to create detailed mechanical models and construction documents.
• Ensure all designs comply with the Saudi Building Code, international standards, and airport-specific requirements.
• Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks to maintain high standards of accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare technical specifications, calculations, and design reports for airport projects.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, and contractors to address design challenges and implement solutions.
• Monitor project timelines and budgets while maintaining design excellence.
• Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies in MEP design.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on airport infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience in leading mechanical engineering teams.
• Proficiency in developing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system designs.
• Strong understanding of international standards and the Saudi Building Code.
• Experience with BIM and advanced design software.

Work Environment

This position is based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and operates on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic engineering team, collaborating across multiple disciplines on significant airport infrastructure projects.
