Role Summary: Medical Science Liaison - Neurology

AstraZeneca is expanding its geographical footprint in rare diseases, a high-growth therapy area with rapid innovation and significant unmet medical need. This full-time role for a Medical Science Liaison - Neurology is based in Jeddah, Western Region, KSA. The Medical Science Liaison will provide medical and scientific support to healthcare professionals (HCPs) regarding the use of medicines within the rare disease portfolio, reporting to the Medical Manager Rare Disease. The position requires 2-5 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide AstraZeneca with insights into the local medical community, clinical practice trends, HCP perspectives, and perceived gaps in scientific knowledge and medical treatment.
  • Share emerging data with HCPs, ensuring scientific, objective, and balanced discussions.
  • Identify and develop scientifically based relationships with Key External Experts (KEEs) in the Saudi Arabian market.
  • Collaborate with HCPs on scientific activities that advance disease understanding, consistent with Medical Affairs strategy and objectives, including clinical trials, Non-Interventional Studies, Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISSs), and scientific exchange.
  • Identify and train potential speakers for local events and provide recommendations for advisory board participants.
  • Present scientific data to HCPs in both group and one-on-one settings, and facilitate continuing medical education events.
  • Deliver actionable insights to internal stakeholders that enhance the value and appropriate use of AstraZeneca products and disease management.
  • Engage in strategic planning meetings with payer customers or hospital decision-makers, ensuring clear separation between scientific and promotional discussions.
  • Maintain expertise in AstraZeneca products, emerging therapies, competitors, patient and treatment trends, clinical trials, and scientific activities within the Disease Area.
  • Support the Medical Manager and Marketing Team in the development of non-promotional and promotional materials/programs.
  • Continuously acquire and update scientific knowledge on the therapeutic area and relevant compounds.
  • Provide scientific support at AstraZeneca-sponsored educational events.
  • Gather, monitor, and share competitor knowledge that may affect company strategies.
  • Plan and execute regional medical activities during product launch processes.

Medical Background and Training Support

  • Serve as a medical resource for sales representatives, providing accurate answers to medical questions to support their use of approved materials and understanding of the therapeutic area.
  • Participate in, develop, and conduct therapeutic area and product trainings, as well as periodic scientific updates for internal customers.

Medical Information Provision

  • Respond to unsolicited requests for information about unapproved AstraZeneca products or unapproved uses of approved products. This information must be presented objectively, in a well-balanced, substantiated, scientific, and non-promotional manner, ensuring it is truthful and not misleading.
  • Document the provision of accurate scientific data in response to unsolicited scientific questions from Healthcare Providers, adhering to Company Policies, applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Applications will only be considered from candidates located in KSA.
