QHSE Officer

About the Role

Swissport KSA is seeking a QHSE Officer to join their team in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves monitoring, implementing, and maintaining Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental standards across Swissport's airport ground handling operations. The QHSE Officer ensures compliance with corporate QHSE policies, Saudi Arabian regulations, GACA requirements, and international aviation safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with Swissport safety policies, operational procedures, and airport safety regulations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections across ramp, passenger services, baggage handling, and cargo operations.
• Identify unsafe acts, hazardous conditions, and operational risks, recommending corrective actions.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS).
• Ensure compliance with GACA requirements, airport authority regulations, and Swissport Global Standards.
• Conduct scheduled and unannounced operational inspections and quality checks.
• Support internal and external audits, including airline customer audits and regulatory inspections.
• Participate in investigations of aircraft damage, ground support equipment incidents, employee injuries, and other operational occurrences.
• Collect evidence, interview personnel, and prepare investigation reports, supporting root cause analysis.
• Monitor occupational health and workplace safety practices, conducting inspections to identify hazards.
• Support emergency response preparedness, evacuation drills, and safety exercises.
• Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns, identifying safety training needs.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly QHSE inspection and performance reports.
• Maintain accurate records of safety observations, incidents, investigations, audits, and corrective actions.

Authority and Accountability

The QHSE Officer is authorized to report unsafe practices and non-compliance directly to QHSE management and recommend immediate suspension of unsafe activities where company procedures allow. This role involves requesting corrective actions from operational departments and escalating serious safety risks, incidents, and repeated violations to management. The Officer is accountable for the accuracy of QHSE reporting, timely escalation of significant risks, and objective performance of assigned duties.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental roles, preferably within airport ground handling or a similar operational environment. A strong understanding of aviation safety standards, GACA requirements, and international regulations such as IATA Ground Operations Manual (IGOM) and ISAGO standards is essential.
