About WSP Middle East and the Role

WSP Middle East is seeking a Senior/Principal Landscape Architect to join its Transport & Infrastructure business unit. This full-time position is based in Riyadh or Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and requires a minimum of 10 years of experience. The role is a senior technical position responsible for leading the landscape design delivery for large-scale infrastructure and land development projects.

Design Leadership and Technical Oversight

The successful candidate will provide design leadership and technical oversight, ensuring the delivery of integrated, high-quality landscape solutions. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the development of landscape architecture design packages from concept through detailed design and construction support stages.
• Providing design direction and technical oversight for landscape works associated with roads, highways, public realm, utilities corridors, streetscape, and land development projects.
• Ensuring landscape designs are functional, sustainable, contextually appropriate, and aligned with project vision and client objectives.
• Leading, mentoring, and developing landscape architects and support staff within the team.
• Promoting best practice, innovation, and continuous improvement within the landscape discipline.
• Supporting resource planning, workload management, and technical capability development.

Project Integration and Stakeholder Engagement

This role involves significant coordination and engagement to ensure seamless project delivery and stakeholder alignment:

• Coordinating closely with roads, utilities, drainage, structures, lighting, urban design, and environmental teams to ensure fully integrated design solutions.
• Managing interfaces between landscape design and other infrastructure disciplines to resolve conflicts and optimise design outcomes.
• Reviewing and approving technical drawings, specifications, schedules, and reports to ensure quality and compliance.
• Acting as a key point of contact for clients and local authorities on landscape-related matters.
• Leading design reviews, technical workshops, and authority meetings to support approvals and stakeholder alignment.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, guidelines, and approval processes.

Construction Support and Quality Assurance

The Principal Landscape Architect will provide essential support during the construction phase and uphold quality standards:

• Providing technical support during tendering and construction stages, including review of contractor submittals, shop drawings, and material samples.
• Conducting design reviews and site visits as required to ensure compliance with design intent.
• Ensuring landscape works meet quality, safety, and sustainability standards.

Candidate Profile and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in landscape architecture.
• Demonstrated design leadership capabilities.
