About the Role

Cummins Arabia is seeking a Senior Project Engineer Power Generation to join their team in the Makkah region, specifically covering Jeddah and Makkah. This full-time, product-focused position involves applying specialized engineering principles and design practices to create optimized design concepts and mechanical specifications for power generation systems. The role requires consideration of application, cost, weight, performance, reliability, durability, manufacturing, assembly, and serviceability. It also involves effectively communicating design concept capabilities to meet cross-functional requirements and assessing alternative and competitive design concepts, working across various disciplines to develop corporate and customer requirements, including those needed to resolve product issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain input and lead negotiations with cross-functional and cross-discipline technical experts and senior-level designers to communicate component and subsystem design intent through a thorough Design Review package to the Product Preceding Technology (PPT), Value Package Introduction (VPI), or Value Package Change Request (VPCR) team, requiring a holistic assessment of various design concepts.
• Lead design decision-making in component and subsystem design concept selection, concept optimization, and design specifications that impact customers targeted by a given PPT, VPI, or VPCR initiative.
• Apply and lead the execution of processes such as Critical Design Decisions, System Design and Validation Consideration Checklist, and Design Review.

Technical Execution and Leadership

• Utilize and lead the application of tools such as iDFMEA, DVA, GD&T, CREO, and ANSYS Workbench, required to enable high-quality subsystem-level design decision-making and design refinement.
• Provide independent leadership for smaller business impact projects or ownership of complex components, products, systems, or services with greater elements of ambiguity than a senior or lead engineer level, with full accountability to the project team.
• Deliver independent execution of established and emerging work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge.
• Lead the development and improvement of work processes and systems across a functional discipline area within a business unit site.

Team Collaboration and Mentorship

• Coordinate and direct work among technicians and temporary student employees.
• Assist in the transfer of knowledge to less experienced engineers through either indirect (scope of influence) or direct management of a small, local group of engineers.
• Provide support and guidance to influence technical direction within a project team and continue to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
• Operate as a recognized specialist in a discipline or product area within the immediate team.

Required Experience

Candidates for this position should possess 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in project engineering, specifically within power generation or a related product-focused engineering field.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in the Makkah region, covering operations in Jeddah and Makkah.
