About the Role

Catrion Group is seeking a Specialist, Microbiology to join our team in Jeddah. This full-time role is central to ensuring the safety and quality of our products by conducting thorough microbiological testing of ingredients and finished goods. The Specialist will play a critical part in implementing HACCP principles and identifying potential health or quality control issues, contributing to both routine operations and research and development initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Microbiology Specialist is to perform laboratory tests that yield reliable and precise data. This data is essential for supporting HACCP evaluations and various scientific investigations. The role involves a commitment to strict methodologies for analyses, meticulous record-keeping, and active participation in the R&D aspects of product development and safety.

Key Duties

  • Perform laboratory tests to generate precise data for HACCP evaluation and scientific investigations.
  • Execute routine tasks accurately, adhering to strict methodologies for all analyses.
  • Record and submit test results following approval from laboratory management.
  • Receive, label, prepare, and analyze various samples, including ready-to-eat food, raw materials, and water.
  • Design and conduct laboratory testing in accordance with standard operating procedures and ISO 17025 requirements, documenting all observations.
  • Conduct experiments under defined conditions to verify or reject hypotheses using refined scientific methods.
  • Organize and store all chemical substances, media, and glassware according to established safety instructions.
  • Accurately record all data and results in specified paper and electronic forms.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and assist with ordering necessary laboratory supplies.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety guidelines at all times and maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
  • Prepare comprehensive investigation reports for all hygiene complaints.

Quality and Safety Compliance

A fundamental aspect of this role involves controlling all factors that could impact food safety and identifying any health or quality control issues requiring corrective action. The Specialist will ensure that all laboratory operations comply with ISO 17025 standards and contribute to the overall implementation of HACCP. Maintaining a safe and compliant laboratory environment is paramount, including the preparation of detailed hygiene complaint investigation reports.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher diploma.
  • Major: Chemistry or Microbiology.
  • Experience: 0 - 3 years in a relevant field.
  • Nationality: Saudi Arabia.
