About the Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to lead financial operations in Medina, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah. This full-time position requires a strategic financial leader to drive profitability and ensure operational excellence within the property.

Strategic Financial Leadership

As the property's strategic financial business leader, this role champions and implements property-wide strategies to meet or exceed brand standards and customer expectations. The position provides financial expertise to support the successful execution of brand initiatives, maximizing return on investment. A key responsibility is creating and executing a business plan aligned with the property and brand's strategic direction, focusing on financial and accounting activities to achieve desirable financial results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies to improve profit, including cost-benefit analysis and exploring new business opportunities.
  • Analyze financial information, forecast sales against expenses, and create annual budget plans.
  • Monitor and analyze actual sales against projected sales, and investigate variances in budget wages.
  • Identify underlying principles and facts by breaking down information and data.
  • Develop and implement new business plans creatively and practically.
  • Create the annual operating budget for the property and provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate controls to manage business risks and ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets and improve profitability.
  • Analyze financial data and market trends, and lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive annual business plan aligned with company and brand strategy.
  • Provide ongoing analytical support by monitoring operating department sales and producing accurate forecasts.
  • Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead and influence teams, advocating for sound financial decisions and leading by example.
  • Communicate strategic goals clearly to subordinates and leverage leadership skills to influence the executive team and property strategies.
  • Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes.
  • Assign clear accountability and appropriate authority to team members and department managers.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals for direct reports.
  • Attend meetings with owners, understand their priorities, and communicate financial concepts clearly to stakeholders.
  • Advise the General Manager and executive committee on operating and financial issues.
  • Manage property working capital and cash flow in accordance with brand SOPs and owner requirements.
  • Facilitate critique meetings with the management team.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of Profits and Losses, monitor taxes, and submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Develop and support the achievement of performance, budget, and team goals.
  • Review audit issues for accuracy and ensure compliance with management contracts, reporting requirements, and operating procedures.
  • Generate and provide accurate and timely reports and presentations.
  • Reconcile balance sheets and ensure P&L accuracy.
  • Ensure team members are cross-trained, property policies are administered fairly, and new hires receive appropriate orientation and training.
  • Create development plans for team members based on their strengths and career aspirations.
  • Conduct performance reviews and participate in hiring activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major, with 2 years of experience in finance and accounting or a related professional area.
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major with no work experience required.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position located in Medina, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah, Saudi Arabia, within Sheraton Hotels & Resorts.
