About the Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Director of Food & Beverage for its property in Medina, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah. This full-time position requires 5-10 years of experience and involves strategic leadership of the property's food and beverage operations.

Strategic Leadership and Operational Oversight

As the strategic business leader, this role oversees the property’s food and beverage and culinary operations, including restaurants, bars, room service, and banquets/catering. The position is responsible for developing and implementing departmental strategies, ensuring alignment with brand service standards and initiatives. The focus is on meeting target customer needs, driving employee satisfaction, increasing revenues, and maximizing financial performance.

Financial Management and Goal Setting

This role involves developing and managing the Food and Beverage budget, monitoring actual and projected sales against revenue goals, and identifying opportunities for growth. Key responsibilities include reviewing financial reports, making recommendations for capital expenditures on equipment and renovations, and ensuring adherence to cash and liquor control policies. The objective is to maintain profit margins while ensuring guest and employee satisfaction. Challenging, realistic, and obtainable goals will be established to guide operations and performance, with a continuous effort to improve service performance.

Team Leadership and Development

Leading the Food and Beverage team requires strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence and encourage others. This includes demonstrating sound financial decision-making, honesty, and integrity, and leading by example. Building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members is essential. The role involves identifying developmental needs, coaching, and mentoring staff to improve their knowledge and skills. Regular communication through pre-meal briefings and staff meetings is expected, alongside establishing and maintaining open, collaborative relationships with direct reports and the entire team.

Ensuring Exceptional Guest Experience

A primary focus is providing service that exceeds customer expectations to ensure satisfaction and retention. This is achieved by communicating and assisting individuals in understanding guest needs, offering guidance, feedback, and coaching. Reviewing guest feedback from comment cards and satisfaction results with the F&B team is crucial for identifying areas of improvement and taking appropriate corrective action. Employees will be empowered to deliver excellent guest service, maintaining a balance between profit and service satisfaction.

Human Resources and Operational Support

This position provides guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance. Coaching and supporting the food & beverage leadership team in managing wages, costs, and controllable expenses is vital. Hiring leadership team members with strong functional expertise, creativity, and entrepreneurial leadership is a key responsibility. Performance review processes will be used to set goals and hold staff accountable. Ensuring fair and equitable treatment of employees and addressing issues with Human Resources as necessary are also part of the role. Additional responsibilities include analyzing information to solve problems, estimating consumption for purchasing, and ordering equipment and supplies.
