About the Role
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Director of Sales & Marketing to lead sales initiatives for properties with significant booking volumes and local catering revenue. This full-time position is based in Medina, within the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The role requires a professional with 2-5 years of experience to drive property sales objectives and achieve booking goals.
Key Responsibilities
The Director of Sales & Marketing will manage the property's reactive and proactive sales efforts, providing day-to-day leadership to sales associates to achieve sales objectives. This includes implementing brand service strategies, building long-term customer relationships, and developing property-wide strategies that align with the brand's target customer profile and deliver a return on investment. The role involves managing the marketing budget for property-specific campaigns and promotions, and interfacing with regional marketing communications for national promotions.
- Evaluating participation in various sales channels and developing strong working relationships to market the property.
- Developing and implementing property-wide strategies to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations.
- Managing the development of strategic account plans for market demand generators.
- Determining and developing marketing communication activities in conjunction with Regional Marketing Communications.
- Providing customer intelligence and evaluating market trends to adapt sales strategies.
- Reviewing market position reports and competitor strategies to identify growth opportunities.
- Attending sales strategy meetings and suggesting innovative marketing ideas.
- Serving as the primary sales contact for the General Manager, leadership team, and external sales leaders.
- Acting as the sales liaison with various hotel departments, including Revenue Management and Event Management.
- Participating in sales calls to acquire new business.
- Identifying public relations opportunities and coordinating activities to support the marketing strategy.
- Executing and supporting Marriott's Customer Service Standards and Brand Standards.
- Ensuring seamless turnover from sales to operations and maintaining a high level of service.
- Monitoring the resolution of guest issues arising from the sales process.
- Maintaining successful performance by increasing revenues, controlling expenses, and providing a return on investment.
Building Relationships and Customer Focus
This role involves developing strong partnerships with local organizations to enhance brand awareness and managing internal key stakeholder relationships. It also requires developing community and public relations through participation in tradeshows and client events. A core aspect is executing exemplary customer service to drive satisfaction and loyalty by understanding customer needs and recommending appropriate solutions that exceed expectations.
Leadership and Team Development
The Director of Sales & Marketing will develop sales goals and strategies aligned with the brand business strategy, and execute these strategies to meet booking goals. This includes coaching leaders of revenue-generating departments on effective revenue strategies and setting aggressive financial performance goals. The role requires ensuring the sales team effectively leverages demand engines and partnering with Human Resources to attract, develop, and retain talent. Creating effective structures, processes, and performance management systems, as well as setting goals and holding direct reports accountable, are key leadership functions. Forecasting talent needs and managing talent acquisition strategies to minimize turnover is also essential.
- Coaching leaders on revenue strategies and goal setting.
- Ensuring sales team leverage of demand engines.
- Partnering with HR for talent acquisition, development, and retention.
- Implementing performance management systems and holding staff accountable.
- Identifying and mentoring group sales associates.
- Transferring functional knowledge and developing sales skills in other managers.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates are required to have either:
- A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major, coupled with 4 years of experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area.
- A 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major, coupled with 2 years of experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area.
Preferred qualifications include a 4-year college degree, demonstrated supervisory skills, lodging sales experience, and hotel industry work experience showing progressive career growth and exceptional performance.
Work Location and Type
This is a full-time position located in Medina, within the Eastern Province. The role is with Sheraton Hotels & Resorts.
