About the Executive Housekeeper Role
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah, Medina, is seeking an Executive Housekeeper I. This full-time position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Housekeeping department, ensuring guest rooms, public spaces, and employee areas are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and order. The role involves direct supervision of staff, inspection of work, and accountability for corrective actions to ensure guest and employee satisfaction while adhering to operating budgets.
Key Responsibilities
The Executive Housekeeper I will manage daily shift operations for Housekeeping, and if applicable, Recreation/Health Club and Laundry. This includes directing and working with employees to ensure all areas of the property are clean and well-maintained. The role requires completing inspections and holding staff accountable for necessary corrective actions. A key aspect is assisting in ensuring guest and employee satisfaction while managing the operating budget effectively.
Operational Management
- Ensuring timely and efficient communication of guest room status to the Front Desk.
- Collaborating effectively with the Engineering department on guestroom maintenance needs.
- Supervising the property's general cleaning schedule.
- Obtaining lists of rooms to be cleaned and prospective check-outs to prepare work assignments.
- Conducting inventory checks to ensure adequate supplies.
- Supervising daily Housekeeping shift operations and ensuring compliance with all policies, standards, and procedures.
- Assisting with the ordering of guestroom supplies, cleaning supplies, and uniforms.
- Supporting and supervising an effective inspection program for all guestrooms and public spaces.
- Communicating areas requiring attention to staff and following up to ensure understanding.
- Ensuring all employees have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
Financial and Customer Service Oversight
- Participating in the management of departmental controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
- Understanding the impact of departmental operations on overall property financial goals and objectives.
- Comprehending budgets, operating statements, and payroll progress reports to assist in financial management.
- Responding to and handling guest problems and complaints.
- Striving to improve service performance and empowering employees to provide excellent customer service.
- Emphasizing guest satisfaction during departmental meetings and focusing on continuous improvement.
Human Resources and Staff Management
- Participating in the investigation of employee accidents as needed.
- Supervising staffing levels to meet guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives.
- Ensuring employees understand expectations and parameters.
- Administering property policies fairly and consistently, completing disciplinary procedures and documentation according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs), and supporting the Peer Review Process.
- Observing employee service behaviors and providing feedback.
- Utilizing on-the-job training tools to train new room attendants and provide follow-up training.
- Participating in the employee performance appraisal process.
- Assisting in interviewing and hiring employees with appropriate skills.
- Supporting a departmental orientation program for new hire training.
- Participating in employee progressive discipline procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in housekeeping or a related professional area. Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major is acceptable with no prior work experience required. The required experience level for this role is between 2-5 years.
