Database Manager

About the Role

The Saudi National Bank (SNB) is seeking a Database Manager to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems that support critical business operations. This full-time position is based in Jeddah, Makkah, and requires 5-10 years of experience. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of database technologies, strong leadership skills, and the ability to ensure high availability, performance, and security of database environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the performance, integrity, and security of all database systems.
• Implement and monitor database backups, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
• Ensure high availability and scalability of database systems to support business growth and operational needs.
• Design and implement new database structures and optimize existing ones to improve performance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with application development teams to ensure database integration and alignment with business requirements.
• Enforce database security policies and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations (*, SAMA, AML/CTF).
• Conduct regular audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
• Monitor database performance proactively and implement tuning strategies to ensure optimal system performance.
• Analyze system logs and performance metrics to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
• Lead and mentor a team of database administrators and developers.
• Work closely with IT operations, application teams, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless database operations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field.
• Advanced certifications in database technologies (*, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) are a plus.
• Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in database management, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale database environments.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Strong technical knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems.
• Experience with database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (*, AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
• Strong understanding of database security, access control, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
