About the Role

Cactus Communications is seeking an experienced Editor: Medical Physics to join its team on a contract basis. This role is based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and contributes to the company's mission of providing expert language editing services to help researchers communicate their findings clearly and successfully publish their work.

Role Purpose and Impact

As an Editor, you will leverage your subject-matter expertise to evaluate and refine research manuscripts. This involves ensuring scientific accuracy and discipline-specific clarity, while simultaneously enhancing the overall quality of the language. Your contributions will directly assist researchers around the globe in publishing their cutting-edge research in prestigious academic journals.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and edit research manuscripts to enhance the clarity, coherence, and readability of scientific content, while preserving the authors’ intended meaning.
• Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and appropriateness of subject-specific terminology, conventions, and scientific arguments for the target audience.
• Improve the presentation of complex research findings to optimize their communication and readiness for publication.
• Edit manuscripts to meet the highest standards of academic writing, ensuring the final text is free of unclear, illogical, or unidiomatic sentences.
• Adhere to job-specific guidelines and format manuscripts according to target journal requirements when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

• Mandatory: A PhD degree in Nuclear Medicine or Medical Physics.
• Mandatory: A strong publication record, including 5–10 or more first-author publications, reflecting 5-10 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to critically assess study design, methodology, statistics, and interpretation of scientific content.
• Proven capability to critically evaluate scientific content and ensure discipline-specific accuracy.
• Excellent written English language skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Prior peer review experience is preferred.
• Prior experience in scientific editing or academic publishing is preferred.
