The Role of Maintenance Engineer

Novotel Hotels is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for a full-time position in Makkah. This role involves overseeing and executing maintenance activities across various systems and equipment within the hotel, ensuring operational reliability and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and oversee planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and corrective maintenance for electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical systems.
• Monitor equipment condition and performance to identify potential failures and minimize operational downtime.
• Lead troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and repair activities for electrical, mechanical, and control system issues.
• Participate in new machinery installation, commissioning, testing, and production transfer projects, ensuring maintenance requirements are met.
• Contribute to machine construction, modification, overhaul, refurbishment, and revision activities.
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, checklists, technical procedures, and standards for assigned equipment.
• Analyze recurring equipment failures and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to implement corrective actions.
• Lead problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety.
• Coordinate with operational departments to plan maintenance activities with minimal disruption.
• Manage and maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, work orders, and technical documentation.
• Support the development and implementation of maintenance KPIs, including equipment availability and response time.
• Manage spare parts and maintenance materials, including stock monitoring and timely replenishment.
• Review technical specifications and support the selection and procurement of spare parts, tools, and services.
• Coordinate and supervise external contractors for specialized maintenance and inspections.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, environmental, and company requirements.
• Conduct regular inspections of machinery, equipment, and electrical/mechanical installations.
• Assist in preparing maintenance budgets, annual plans, and capital expenditure proposals.
• Review equipment manuals, technical drawings, and manufacturer recommendations for proper maintenance.
• Support the implementation and improvement of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Train, guide, and support maintenance technicians in troubleshooting, repair, and safe working practices.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are properly documented and completed within required timeframes.
• Participate in equipment performance reviews, reliability improvement programs, and energy-efficiency initiatives.
• Maintain technical readiness to respond to urgent breakdowns and critical equipment failures.
• Recommend technical improvements, equipment upgrades, and process modifications.
• Perform other assigned maintenance and engineering responsibilities.

Experience and Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in a relevant maintenance engineering role.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
• Experience with maintenance record-keeping and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental compliance in maintenance operations.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working within a hotel environment as part of a dedicated maintenance team, contributing to the overall operational excellence of Novotel Hotels.
